We were so impressed with the Marmadukes website that we thought this would be the ideal place for our special long weekend break in York. The idea of treating ourselves to a stay in a "Luxury Boutique" hotel as it was described sounded very appealing. On arrival the place looked lovely, but then we were surprised at just how small... more

We stayed at this hotel for our honeymoon in October and were really expecting a lot considering the £220 price tag. The room was beautiful and the ensuite bathroom very nice, aithough who decided to put the toilet and bath under the sloping ceiling so you couldn't stand up I don't know! The staff were lovely and extremely helpful. The... more

A truely fantastic hotel. On a quiet side street ten minuits walk from the minster. Gorgeous building, very friendly and efficient staff. Amazingly decorated rooms and public areas. I could not fault this hotel at all. Will definately return in the near future. more

We have just returned from Marmadukes and had a great 2 day stay. I don't think some of the reviews fairly represent how pleasant and relaxing the hotel is. We had room 514 which was spacious and well decorated with lots of antiques and a reasonably sized bathroom with bath and overhead shower. It was warm, welcoming and had tasteful... more

Although first impression of the hotel was good, the room was very small and there were a few problems. The shower was faulty and kept running hot and cold, there also wasnt a bath. Secondly the paint in the bathroom was all chipped off around the top of the shower and we werent provided with bathrobes. We have stayed in... more

The Hotel is not worth the price. We paid £210 per night for a tiny room that was just too cramped to move in. The sound proofing is non existent and it gets hot and stuffy. We tried drinks and dinner in the restaurant one night and it felt a bit like Fawlty Towers. You can tell that this Hotel... more

Marmadukes Hotel possesses a real old world charm, and is situated down a quiet side street. We were able to sleep with the windows open and were not disturbed by the noise. The staff were helpful as we were not happy with the very noisy creaky bed in our first room. They immediatley moved us to a better, brighter room.... more

Myself and my husband spent a weekend at Marmadukes Hotel for our wedding anniversary. The hotel was fantastic. The room was gorgeous with fabulous furniture and a really comfy bed. It is only about a 10 min walk into the centre of York so very handy. They have a lovely bar area with outside seating (subject to the weather). We... more

Booked the hotel last minute to take advantage of the 30% off summer offer. Dead easy to find and in a great location (with parking which is a rarity in York!).Very helpful at front desk and were suitably impressed with our deluxe room.Veteren travellers to York appreciate that size of property/rooms is often limited etc. Didn't get round to investigating... more

We stayed 2 nights at Marmadukes for our first wedding anniversary and had very high expectations based on the hotel literature, website and (not to mention) the price of the room. We upgraded to a deluxe room, which at £180 per night is fairly high for any city. For this price, we would certainly have expected some real wow factor.... more
