We spent three nights at his hotel on a bread and breakfast basis and it was in a good location with bus-stops outside and restaurants and the Barbican Centre within walking distance. Try Totos Italian restaurant - good menu/food and friendly staff. The hotel itself was fairly empty and the decor could be improved. Not sure about the large white... More

Just returned from a nights stay in a family room with 2 teenage girls. The hotel is lovely, clean and comfortable. The room was plenty big enough for us 4, tea and coffee making facilities, wardrobe and plenty of cupboard space. Iron and hairdryer on hand. The ensuite facilities were excellent and clean, a corner bath and electric shower with... More

We stayed at the York Priory for four nights at the beginning of April 2013. We had upgraded to a superior room which was reasonably furnished, had great bed linen, comfy mattress and was very clean; the drawback was that it was a little bit on the small side...... not overly so but an extra foot or two on the... The welcome at this guesthouse is outstanding, and everyone working there is very friendly, taking the lead from the owners. Located a short walk from the city centre, this lovely hotel is ideally situated. Breakfast is included, and is very good. The hotel has a car park, which is a plus in York, and there is no charge for parking,... More

We stayed recently for a last minute mid-week break. We booked directly with the Priory, who were very helpful. This is a 4* B&B, not a luxury hotel. If that's what you want, then go to a luxury hotel. We found the Priory to be a perfect base for our 3 days in York. We had asked for a superior... More

Stayed for 1 night with a friend. Very helpful and friendly receptionist. Building old with some lovely architectural features and spotlessly clean. Stayed in small twin bedded room on top floor. Bathroom gleaming ! All usual facilities but also flasks available for fresh milk from reception instead of horrid little plastic containers. We would have found room too small for... More

Our second stay at The Priory, booked through laterooms.com. Once again, excellent value, huge room for us and the two children followed by a hearty and delicious freshly cooked breakfast. Only 10 minutes very pleasant riverside walk to all the city centre attractions and free parking for our sightseeing. Recommended!

My husband and I shared a midweek overnight stay and were absolutely delighted with all aspects of our stay. This hotel is exceptionally well located with free parking, a rare commodity in this thriving tourist city. This is a dog friendly hotel and although there was a dog staying in the room next door, we only heard it when we... More

Have just come back from 3 nights at the Priory, and we had a lovely time. O.k, if you're expecting a 4 star all singing all dancing fancy hotel, then you'll be disappointed, BUT, if you're expecting a clean, very friendly, welcoming B&B then you won't be disappointed ( definitely 4 * hospitality ). Our room was 305, which was... More
