The proprietors, Steve and Margaret Bradley, offer a high quality service. The bedrooms (two four posters) are all en-suite and characterfully decorated. A superb breakfast is one of the highlights of a stay at the Bentley. There is a choice of cereals, fresh-fruit salad, dried fruits softened in apple juice, plain and fruit yoghurts, home-made jams and marmalade, home-baked brown and white bread, as well as the traditional full English grilled breakfast of bacon and egg, sausage, black-pudding, hash-browns, baked beans, mushrooms and tomatoes. We had booked the Bentley on line and paid in full 6 weeks earlier. Following a long journey we arrived at 15.10 to find a note on the door saying the proprieters were out 'for about an hour' from 14.40. This guest house more than lived up to all the previous reviews ........ excellent accomodation with every comfort you would need ..... friendly helpful welcome ...nothing too much trouble.. and the breakfast is second to none!!!!. Very close to the centre of the city (a 5 minute walk to the city walls). Wonderful welcome - able to check in early and leave bags so I could explore & the same on my last day. Welcome was excellent owner very friendly and helpful, rooms exceptionally clean. Breakfast excellent all cooked fresh and very tasty. Location fantastic would recommend a stay here to anybody. Second visit is on the cards. Thank you Margaret for your hospitality.

“Lovely traditional guesthouse with excellent service and care”

We booked this guesthouse late in the day after having been let down by another guesthouse in York. We had a fantastic stay due to the excellent service, lovely room, brilliant cooked breakfast and fantastic location. We highly recommend staying here especially if you prefer a more traditional setting/service.
