My friend and I stayed here last weekend. Everything was perfect. Tony and Allison made us feel right at home, we had an early start one day and they were able to accomodate us with an early breakfast. I would recommend this guest house to anybody staying in York.

I stayed in this guesthouse for two nights whilst visiting the university with my nephew and his girlfriend. Spotlessly clean, great showers and friendly staff. I also got a good cooked breakfast, which, as a vegetarian, is for reasons unknown to me, a rarity. Would definiltely recommend and will definitely use again.

Stayed for 2 nights while at York Races. Lovely little guest house with very friendly owners. Excellent cooked breakfast with plenty of friendly chat. We will definitely return and would not hesitate to recommend.

What a lovely find. Was saved by the Abbingdon when was very rudely let down by Four Poster lodge. Great price, great service and lovely owners. Room was a good size, ( I had a twin as the singles were full, but was charged the single rate) lots of hot water, tea and coffee facilities. Free parking for guests right... More

Friendly owners, delicious vegetarian breakfasts, 10 minute walk to town center. We stayed in a double room, but peeked into the single rooms and found them to be a bit claustrophobic. Our room was fine, but I would not stay in the singles. Also (and this is petty, I know, but first impressions...) the outside is not welcoming - just... More

I found this place to be a little gem. For a single, the room is small compared to the larger hotels, but had everything I needed, comfortable bed, clean bathroom, nice hot water in the shower. The best thing is the excellent breakfast inc bacon, sausage, egg, tomato, beans, mushrooms, plus ample cereals, juices, fruits, yoghurt. This meal will set... More

I came by car from Zurich, Switzerland, and the welcome could not have been warmer! The owners are super friendly and accommodating. The English breakfast with the ham, egg, beans etc. in the morning was delicious. The room was small but had everything I needed. And surprise: there was a dvd player as well. So I could watch one of... More

I always prefer small hotels/guest houses to large anonymous hotels, because of the people contact. This was certainly true of the Abbingdon where the owners ( a young couple with a baby) were very helpful and took a genuine interest in my reasons for visiting York without prying. (They in fact originate from an area very close to where I... More

It can be quite difficult to write a review of a guest house, as the work on different parameters to hotels, but my stay at the Abbingdon Guest House was well worth some positive words on TripAdvisor. It’s the “small touches” that often set a Guest House apart from a hotel – from a friendly welcome, a genuine interest in... More

I stayed here with my partner and a friend for the beginning of railfest. I found it to be lovely and clean and the rooms were a good size. The breakfast was great and it certainly set you up for the day. The owners Tony and Alison are very friendly and they made all of us feel welcome, even taking... More
