Just a quick review to sing the praises of this B & B. The owners, Norma and Nigel, were very accomodating and could not do more for you. All credit to them. Excellent breakfasts and a very good location - the city centre is only 5 mins walk away. Highly Recommended !!

I have now stayed at Briar Lea 6 times in the last 10 years and as always the stay was brilliant. The rooms are clean and comfortable, well decorated and furnished. The breakfast is great and the owners really friendly. The location is excellent and in easy walking distance of the City by the road, along the river or through... More

We only wanted to stay one night in York because we were going to the Theatre and didn't want to drive home afterwards. This guesthouse is very central - a pleasant short walk down to the river then through the Museum Park where the squirrels run around entertaining anyone visiting the park. The guesthouse is clean with a cosy, hospitable... More

My wife and myself go to York at least once a year and we always stay at the Briar Lea, down Longfield Terrace. The hotel is perfectly placed as it is only a ten minute walk into the city centre, with shopping, city walls and the museums all very close. Nigel and Norma are always willing to help and advise... This was the second time I have stayed here and this time brought two friends, one from Canada and one from London UK. They remembered me and made us feel so welcomed. The room was perfect for three, the accommodations just great. The breakfast was hot, plenty and welcomed. Have been twice, if I ever have cause to be in... More

We stayed at the Briar Lea for 1 night on our way from London to Edinburgh and wished we had been able to stay longer. Norma and Nigel are excellent hosts, the room was spotless and the breakfast the best we had in our entire trip. York is an extremely interesting city and one we would love to return to... More

We have just spent a night at Briar Lea, after attending an event in York. Not much to add to what everyone else seems to think. Thank you for comfirming what most guests think. One or two of the rooms are a little on the small side compared to some B & B's, but no smaller than most. But as you will agree, our prices reflect this. More

The owners of this B & B are the friendliest and nicest of any I have ever met. The breakfast was lovely, it is cionvenient for the town centre via a short walk down the river or a stroll through the beautiful york museum gardens. The room was spotless and nicely decorated. The only bad point is that the room... More
