I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Saughy Rigg. The owners picked me up and took me back to the train station. They also took me to my meeting a mile away. Due to the location and being a single traveller, I ate at the house and both meals I had were delicious and good portions. My room was lovely, comfortable... more

A bit worried at first by the solitude of the location and the availability of dining alternatives, but after 4 days we didn't want to leave. It's a great location for exploring Hadrian's Wall, and after your walk have a relaxing drink in the lounge. Followed by an excellent meal in their dining room. It could be an great restaurant... more

We booked this on the strength of a wonderful website and 4 diamond ratings from Visit England (at its worst) .com !!! Inital impressions "ideal for horses but NOT humans or vehicles" where do vehicles for 12+ rooms park?? Dirty rooms, Edwardian worn out furniture, sparse hospitality, minimal full breakfast (take a microscope to view the micro sausages) !! The... more

My experience here is similar to other guests. Great people run this large farm. Nice food and lots of space to chill out in after a long day on the Wall. Sadly the rooms are a bit of a diy nightmare. On the up side, the showers are great, hot and plentiful. The bed was comfy. If the painting was... more

I dont think they know what they are. If they are a luxury, remote B&B then smarten the place up - but if they want walkers then reduce the costs and increase the food portions -and stop the overpriced, small portions of food. more

This can't be described as a B&B. It's mid way between a guest house and a small hotel. First impressions were great- a lift from Steel Rigg, lovely reception room, tea and cake on arrival, friendly welcome, drying room. It was only when we got to our bedroom that we were less impressed. It was tiny and looked unfinished- as... more

Stayed here for two nights during a walking holiday, and it was a good place to unwind on our designated rest day. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the lifts to and from the Steel Rigg car park and Vindolanda were much appreciated - you don't really want to walk to it if you've done 12 miles already,... more

This B&B is more like a little hotel, and better than many hotels, with a warm welcome, even for our dog, lifts to and from Hadrian's Wall and delicious food and wine. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts. The drying room was big and warm, which meant our boots were ready for the next days walking. The atmosphere... more

This was our second stay this year and it was just as perfect as the first time! We had a lovely, big, comfortable 4 poster room and the welcome was warm and friendly. It was sunny when we stayed this time and the place looked even better in the sunshine! It was lovely to sit outside in the evening after... more

As it was advertised as "Luxury camping" on their website one would expect a certain level of comfort and cleanliness. On arrival we found the tent to be in a weed infested mud patch! The interior of the tent was filthy! On the floor we found a dirty used elastoplast, a used wipe with hairs and blood on it. The... more
