Just got back from a 3 night stay at the boatside where we enjoyed exploring Hexham and the surrounding countryside visiting the historic attractions such as Hadrian's wall, The Old Gaol and Hexham Abbey. The Inn was excellent. The food lovely, the room lovely and the staff lovely. Everyone was so friendly and eager to please. I would recommend the... More

Came to the boatside for a stay overnight and had the best time away in a long time. From the minute I walked through the door I was made to feel at home. I came over for a meal in the evening and had a sirloin steak which was cooked to perfection. And the homemade onion rings where to die... More

Went here for an evening meal expecting good things, my starter was the scallops - tiny frozen and over cooked. Why people would have such a dish like scallops and use cheap frozen products is beyond me - suppose it's my fault for not asking where they're from. To finish off I had an absolute mountain of salad to disguise... More

I received such frosty and rude emails when trying to book a small party...I gave up. We were trying to rent all rooms and cottages, which were not cheap (80 pounds b and b after negotiation but the cottage only rented by the week) A beautiful location but there are plenty of other options in the local area

Recently visited this pub after reading its reviews on here. We arrived early in the evening and found no one else in the dining room. We were greeted by a member of staff and seated. After this, the experience went down hill. Placed the order which arrived 10 minutes later. Well some of the order came. One meal was missing... More

A couple of years ago my wife and I married in her home country of Vietnam. We decided that we'd renew our vows in the UK for the members of the family who couldn't make it the first time around. Having visited the registry office we booked a family lunch at the Boatside. They were fantastically accommodating, service was great... More

Just returned from staying 3 nights here. Great location for seeing Hadrian's Wall. We went to Chesters which was excellent. Weather was very kind to us. Cold but blue skies (November) Also went to a place Allen Banks which was beautiful. The Inn was very comfortable and very clean. Room was large (we stayed in Homer). Staff were very friendly... Went here with my partner for Sunday lunch before a walk on Hadrian's Wall. Easily one of the best roast lunches I've had in a long time, with generous, tasty portions. We were quite late (2.30) and they still managed to accommodate us when other pubs might have stopped serving. They actively encourage walkers, which is good for the muddy-boots... More

I was only staying for a weeding, therefore did not spent much time in my room. However, I felt that the Inn offered a very homely service. Breakfast was very good and that staff were very friendly. I highly enjoyed my stay.

Stayed at The Boathouse with some pals whilst fishing on The North Tyne at Chesters which is five minutes away. Super room; all provided. Lovely supper of savoury mince with all trimmings and there was the option of liver and onions and braised steak. Manfood. Staff were very helpful and a good atmosphere througthout. A great base
