Having just spent 3 nights at the Battlesteads I have come away compelled to write a great review. Mike (landlord/owner) was charming amusing and entertaining throughout our stay. As part of a large group of 12 people who all had far too much fun (drink) the entire staff dealt with us all with charm and good grace.

Stayed with my wife for 2 nights away after Christmas. Excellent food and great to relax in the bar with a drink and paper in the afternoon. If you want local produce beautifully cooked with nice friendly service look no further.

We were made very welcome and being a smaller hotel, there was plenty of opportunity...

I stayed at Battlesteads over Christmas 2011, with my dog.
OK - the room was a bit soulless, but that could be solved next time they decorate. But it was clean and comfortable. As I had a dog, they gave me a ground floor room near the front door, which was great for nipping out first thing and before bed....

First of all, the Battlesteads is not in Hexham but in Wark 11 miles away so to describe it as a Hexham hotel is misleading.
We stayed for a three night Christmas break which was perfect from start to finish. We went as a family group and chose this hotel partly because of their excellent facilities for disabled people. The...
