This is my third time at this hotel and the experience is fantastic. So much so we are booked in for 6 nights at Christmas and cannot wait to go back. 660 mile round trip is worth it just for the food alone. I've stayed in rooms in the main house and the new 9 bed extension. Room 3 and... more

I stayed with friends in this grandly named hotel. However the only thing that is grand about it is the name. The rooms were tiny, scruffy and dirty, and in desperate need of upgrade. Hadnt been painted since the 1980,s and then I suspect badly. The food was decent, the staff were nice but a little dazed when having to... more

We were guests at a wedding and stayed in a room in the annex building. Everything was clean, but nothing matched. We stayed in a room painted Barbie pink with a sky blue bathroom. The double bed had no headboard and was pushed up against the wall on one side which made it uncomfortable during the night. The matress was... more

Our cricket club used this hotel for a five-day stay which included four cricket matches and a day's golf (all arranged by the hotel). While the general appearance of the hotel was perhaps not the best (there was building work going on round the back, and the reception and bar area needed sprucing up, particularly the carpeting), I can honestly... more

The hotel is rather tired and the room desparately needed renovation. The washbasin was chipped and cracked - the bathroom only had soap dispensers and no blocks of soap. The dispenser over the bath was about 3 foot high - OK for a shower but very diificult for a bath. There were exposed wires in the bedroom which needed putting... more

A family party of 13 spent a single Saturday night here to celebrate my wifes birthday. This in itself was pretty impressive as an increasing number, not to say majority, of hotels will only take 2 night bookings at weekends. There was a lot of building work going on while we were there so we didn't see the place at... more

Have stayed in the hotel three times - mainly because of the salmon-fishing. Staff are very friendly. The bar is now non-smoking, which is a huge plus. The food is excellent and great value - especially if you stay bed, breakfast and dinner. The only fault I have with the hotel is the rooms. Every one we've stayed in is... more

Stayed in the cottage attached to the hotel. They were friendly from the outset and recommended the best value package. The cottage itself was very well equipped and warm (important for this time of year) Ate in the restuarant which was excellent both for quality and value for money. The decor is slightly dated but suits the hotel and the... more
