I rarely give a so-so review of a decent place to stay. But I'll give my reasons why below. Pros: - so close to the wall, easy stopping and starting point to several of the settlements and in between Carlisle and Durham. - Decent sized room, comfy bed, nice tea/coffee service and tv - good selection of bitters, foreign beer,... more

We stayed at the Twice Brewed Inn in august for 2 nights. We walked along the hadrians wall and it is also easy to reach by the bus AD 122. Our room was really big with a fantastic view. The Inn is situated besides the road, so it is easy to reach it by car. For a visit of Vindolanda... more

Greatly enjoyed the atmosphere, wonderful food, superb service and charm of this old Inn adjacent to Hadrian's Wall. Well worth including in your hiking trip or just in seeing the way thing's were! Easy to share a bathroom, lots available, ensuite also available, something for everyone. Beers from around the world and superb local ales. The Sticky Toffee Pudding is... more

Best thing about this pub is its convenience to one of the more scenic stretches of Hadrian's Wall. Another good thing is the array of well kept real ale in the bar. Rooms are adequate. Dining area is a bit institutional and food is definitely of the school dinners variety (but comes in enormous portions to compensate). Service a bit... more

I ate at the Twice Brewed Inn with my family several times this summer. I'd gone along to try it on the basis of a local recommendation, and was really impressed, enough to go back on subsequent days. There was a decent range of solid pub food, characterised by decent ingredients, large portions and good cooking. Price-wise, no more than... more

The Twice Brewed Inn had a warm, pub-ish atmosphere. We thoroughly appreciated the proximity of the inn to Hadrian's Wall, the object of our visit. That convenience was balanced by the somewhat basic furnishings of our room. Either way, the people ensured that we enjoyed our stay. more

Starting with the pros the management was very friendly and the food was decent. Its also close to Hadrians Wall. The negatives are that our room was unclean and had no tv. Was also extremely cold and was bitten to death by mosquitos even with the closed window. The shared facilities were okay and clean when i stayed there. more

I spent a night at the Twice Brewed in late June of 2008. It was a perfect location for a traveller without a vehicle, as Hadrian's Wall was only a 15-20 minute walk away and a Roman fort and museum was only a 25-30 minute walk in the other direction. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the inn's pub... more

It has apparently changed hands recently. It is aweful. My "premium" Room was expensive, smelled of drains, had been decorated by a maniac fond of pink and purple, and furnished with broken items from a car boot sale. The food was disgusting (the only starter was Haggis, everything else was frozen and inexpertly cooked, nothing was local; the breakfast was... more
