There can be few places more quintessentially English than a country inn and in this area none more so than the Old Hall Inn. Voted Derbyshire Pub of the Year & and winner of Best Cask Pub in the East Midlands at the Great British Pub Awards, it positively exudes a warm welcome and the promise of fine local ale and excellent food. Steeped in history, this family run, 16th-century inn located in the heart of the Peak District also offers excellent en-suite accommodation in beautiful country surroundings. The young team at the Old Hall, take great pride in what we have to offer and take satisfaction in making any stay, long or short one to remember!

The complete package: lovely inn, with great food, perfect rooms and brilliant walks on the doorstep. I went for the walking and Dan has laid out plenty of walks from the inn, demanding and easy, all supported by GPS devices and maps. Breakfast can be nice and early if a long walk is in contemplation.

Very comfortable room. Staff were so friendly and attentive. Food amazing. We ordered a pack lunch and used the hotel GPS for our walk which worked really well. Chocolate fudge cake was delicious! Breakfast amazing in a lovely cosy setting with roaring open fires. We really enjoyed our stay.

The Old Hall in, closely partnered with the Old Paper Mill Inn just over the road, provided us with the perfect arrangement for our walking weekend. We went with a group of friends and the staff accommodated us beautifully, giving us a nice large table for breakfast each day and helping us out with anything we needed. Both pubs are great, with a particularly excellent choice of beers and compliment each other well: one with a higher-end restaurant, and one that serves great pizzas - we used both and we weren't disappointed! It was especially good they had the Six Nations on TV! There are loads of really great walks all around, either walking straight from the inns or a short drive away.

Fantastic location for walking. Very friendly staff and very comfortable accommodation. We ate both nights in the restaurant, the waiter explained how the featherblade steak was cooked and it was so good that we had it both nights. 10 out of 10.

Got a really good feel about this inn from the moment of arrival into the atmospheric bar. An interesting journey to our room through the eponymous historic hall and corridors to a cosy warm room with mullioned window and paneled walls. A wide selection of local ales, lovely food, wine and good service, followed by a sample from the whisky collection near a wood-burning stove made for an excellent evening. Breakfast in the hall was superb. The friendly staff were engaged and seemed to have a stake in the business. This visit was on a quiet midweek February night and look forward to returning on a warmer busier evening when the place must buzz with life and variety. It deserves all the success it can get.

We stayed in Spring Cottage for 2 nights and had a fantastic stay. Very well equipped cottage including wood for the fire, coffee and other basics. The linen was also good quality and beds very comfy. Possibly the highlight was the 20 steps from the front door to the 2 lovely pubs - a great location in a lovely village. Dan went out of his way to help us plan walking and bike routes and was clearly passionate about the area with amazing knowledge and was happy to help throughout our stay. Thanks Dan!

Really lovely place to stay. We stayed in the Paper Mill and had a lovely bedroom and bathroom with gorgeous stand-alone bath. Nice staff, spotlessly clean and really quaint and charming. Would definitely recommend and stay there again in the future. Lovely breakfast too.

Go to the Old Hall Inn. They have created an extraordinary experience. Every member of staff is there to help your stay go as well as is possible . Nothing was too much. The chef delivers innovative food, strong flavours , good portions and as you’d expect a range of wines and beers to compliment. If that was not enough their sister restaurant delivers pizza of a standard chefs in Naples would be proud. Thanks , I’ll be back as often as I can.
