Stayed here for one night on our way South. We had the Burford room, comfortable , well furnished with an immaculate ensuite bathroom, great view of the street & quiet in spite of the tremendous amount of traffic that passes through the village. Tea & coffee facilities in the room & surprisingly sherry for a pre meal aperitif.Nice touch. Breakfast was... More

I can't comment on the accommodation, but this used to be quite a nice place to go for a drink in the evening. Unfortunately, on the evidence of a recent experience it seems to have become a 'local pub for local people'. If you want a drink and you're not a regular, I wouldn't hold your breath. If you do... I came here with my girlfriend as part of a weekend away from London having both had a busy couple of months. We were looking for somewhere personal (i.e. not Hilton) but not overly so (i.e. not B&B). The Highway Inn was spot on in every way. It's right in the centre of Burford, which is a beautiful little village.... More

Just stopped in for a coffee and it was hard to get a rise out of the blondie behind the bar. She needs a break or a better owner as she looks/tone of voice 'worked off her feet', so perhaps she was a bubbly bonny lass once but the owners didnt give her the help she needed so is now... More

Great location and generally a decent hotel. However very badly let down by one of the rudest and most unpleasant managers/owner I have met. She appears to have delusions of working in a five star hotel but lacks basic manners never mind good customer care. Never again! Stayed in the Lamb Inn Burford, the following night and they were a... More

You and three friends back from Cheltenham Gold Cup, couldn’t walk straight, came to check in however only yourself very rude / abusive about your bag not being put in your room and being kept with the other guest bags?, you were given the option to stay or go as the staff and me are not here to be shouted... Lovely meal by candlelight. It felt very cosy and relaxed. we got the last table -always a good sign if a place is fully booked. staff were very friendly, and music was good too. We tried the lamb and the steak which were delicious and good portions so we had to share a dessert - also delicious.

This was the third hotel that we had booked for this weekend through Booking.com . The first had overbooked so had no rooms for us, the second didn't have the rooms that we had asked for and it really was a case of third time lucky, we were so pleased that this is the place where we ended up. We... More

We stayed at the Highway Inn for two nights and found the hotel to be beautifully quaint. It has a very rustic feel and the rooms are very clean. Unfortunately we found the breakfast to be a little poor on the first morning as there was a party of 32 in at the same time. The meat tasted like it... More

In my last review I said that I would love to return to Burford and the Highway Inn – well I have! My husband and I stayed at the Highway Inn for three nights in November 2012. We had the Burford room which had a four poster bed and overlooked the main street of Burford. The room was large and... More

We stayed as a family group just between Christmas and New Year. The Inn is fantastic: excellent food, unusually good, attentive and friendly service and offers great value for money. The room we stayed in was nice but could perhaps do with a little upgrading but the overall presentation of the hotel is excellent. Highly recommended.
