We stayed here last Friday and Saturday having booked in November last year. We were initially given a room that was smallish but adequate. However, on Saturday morning the toilet in our room refused to flush (see other reviews below). We reported the matter to reception at 08.15 and went out for the day having been assured that it would... more

Stayed here for a couple of nights, and while not that bad, can't really recommend the hotel overall. Hotel is centrally placed, but the car park access is a nightmare, also they operate a valet parking system, holding on to your car keys, which would be fine if they actually issued a receipt for the car, it is all done... more

We had paid our reservation 2 months earlier through a travel agency. However, when we arrived our name was not in their computer and they did not accepted my copy of the reservation. I had to phone myself and ask the travel agency to send again the proof of the payment of the registration. At the end they gave us... more

We stayed at the Eastgate last year and found the staff to be friendly and efficient. This year was different. There was an initial hiccup with our internet booking and the receptionist implied that it was because we had not paid a reasonable price, which was not the case. When we were checking out the receptionist was uncommicative to the... more

Since I booked over the internet and got a 'special' rate, my credit card got charged the very day I placed my booking, which, in my opinion, is not the best way to treat a customer. However, this didn't bother me too much, and was hoping the service would make up for this. The email stated I had a 'dial... more

We stayed at the Eastgate for a weekend in November 2008 It was the best accommodation we found being very well located right in the center at a few steps from the main colleges and the shopping centre and having a very reasonable price compared to other hotels we checked in the same area. I think we got their best... more

I stayed here for one night with my sisters and father. We were going to see the Globe production of Comedy of Errors in the Bodelian Library . The hotel is only a short walk to the library and to the main shopping area with restaurants and cafes etc. The tour bus of the city (well worth doing) stops about... more

I didn't find the hotel as bad as previous reviews on Trip Advisor suggested. I chose it because of its central location - although it's fairly expensive (I paid £100 for single occupancy of a double room), it was by far the cheapest hotel available in central Oxford. Almost everything else in the same price range was well out of... more

Stayed in the Mercure Eastgate during a business trip to Oxford. The location was very central and the room itself clean although very small (you had to climb into bed from the bottom of the bed). The hotel had a certain olde-world charm although the book-effect wallpaper in the bar area was tacky beyond belief. The bathroom was spotless though.... more

Very small rooms, cleaners don't clean behind the doors of the bathroom or closets. Mattress almost crippled me. Good location, quiet. more
