Positive: Near the city centre. Car parking Negatives: very Noisy, Staff indifferent, Room very small. Breakfast poor quality and only between 7.30 to 8.30 weekdays. Expensive for service provided. No lounge, unless you sit in a noisy pub bar. Could connect to the Wi-Fi. more

Obviously don't book a 17th century hotel if you are looking for ultra modern! For the benifit of the whingers on this site try the travelodge! If you want a genuine old pub experienceand great people then stay here. more

Clearly a place undergoing some renovation but even taking that into account the experience was not good. The accomodation is above the pub in what is described as a 17th Century Coaching Inn, sounded good when desciribed to us but the reality was very different. The room was clean and the bed relatively comfortable but a number of light bulbs... more

How this place got its stars I will never know! Very dated, poor decor, noisy and quite frankly the staff were rude, except for the poor girl waiting on tables in the morning. Only good thing about it was its location and the fact that it has a car park. more

We wanted a place to mix with the locals and this is what this place is. Built in the 1400’s!!! The entrance to the accommodation was around the back of the building and we were a bit amused and shock horror on our initial impressions of the reception in the narrow corridor, and the narrow uneven staircase to get to... more

Absolutely dreadful. We didnt actually stay here after being shown the room we had been allocated. Room was small. I dare not touch the bed let alone lay on it! I had a nasty feeling that something was living in it. Bathroom was just gross, filthy dirty, room was on the ground floor right next to car park, blind in... more

We just wanted somewhere for B&B at a reasonable price in central Oxford while we visited our daughter. Got a good rate on the internet. This suited us well and we were pleasantly surprised after reading some of the negative reviews. We did ask for a "quiet " room and we got No 8 with a double and single which... more

If you read Terry's review back in Feb 06 my stay compares pretty much with his. I insisted on not having rooms that had come up badly on this site and got room 7 which was ok - very old and dusty. Little hot water in the shower, bed was relatively comfy. The owner knows about the reviews on this... more

We were expecting to be in a isolated old inn... but we ended up in a new appartment on the inn car park... The location is GREAT: 5 minutes walk and you are in the center of Oxford. This is excellent. The appartment itself was showing its age but was clean and our two boys enjoyed the playstation on the... more

Dreadful. Room was small. Could feel the springs in the beds. Pillows lumpy. Shower lukewarm. Dangerously broken lamp above headboard. In the night an alarm was going off in another room (which we could hear clearly as there was a hole in the wall) and when we tried to find someone the ENTIRE building was empty!!! Eventually got through to... more
