attended a murder mystery here and thoroughly enjoyed our selves, we stayed in the coach house which we found very charming (although the bathrooms were a bit dated). the grounds were beautiful and the dinner also. we look forward to going again. more

Stayed here for one night for a wedding. Beautiful setting, lovely gardens, lovely old building, staff all friendly and helpful. It is an old building, unfortunately all of the furnishings also quite old and dusty. Not very clean. Big gap under our bedroom door, so could hear everyone walking past our room. After reading some of the reviews (particularly on restaurant food) we were wary of returning to this hotel after many years. We were pleased to discover however that we had an excellent dinner in the lovely linen fold pannelled dining room. The only problem being the heating under the window seats on a warm day! The setting is very impressive in the main building and gardens. Staff could not do enough to help, and provided great assistance for travel. Our room was in the coverted barn which was a bit medioca with lttle sound proofing and the shower fluctuated beteen cold and scalding hot (not safe for youngsters). Very helpful on the phone after Hotels.com let me down (never use them!) and they gave me a cheaper rate. The hotel looks great in the dark all lit up. The room was fairly dated but ok.
