Stayed there for 2 days; having in mind the pre info, the stay was rather moderate. The internet site gave me the impression, "We want to be different", but Service remains at "want to be", not really making it; reception service ok, but not as high standard as one might expect; nice people, taking notice, but no delivery; good for... Very cool hotel that was a former prison. Rooms are perfectly appointed with lots of plugs/working space, beautiful bathroom and really comfortable bed with big down pillows. A little noisy--you can hear everything outside, but the décor is beautiful. Easy check in, convenient to walk everywhere. Lot's of good restaurants close by. Good breakfast buffet and lively bar

The website does its job well- so maybe over estimated what we might expect. We visited with friends, they had visited before. We felt it sadly lacking something, although cannot put our finger on what! Very dark, was glad to come out into daylight at times. Stayed in a room, not a cell, although still overpriced at £200.00. They even... More

The hotel is centrally located and very close to the bus station. The room is pretty average, quite small indeed but the outside decor is pretty fascinating. We had lunch at the brasserie downstairs with the menu looked pretty good but my lamb tagine was pretty blend for my liking.

Malmaison, the hotel group that "dare to be different", market themselves well and this potentially set my expectations too high, leaving me disappointed that the 'former prison' theme of the Malmaison Oxford wasn't emphasised. The hotel lacked atmosphere and the staff could have added a few smiles, but for the price visitors (or should we say inmates?!) are rewarded with... More

Booked a cell room because of the experience even though it was £304 for the night! When we arrived it looked beautiful - cannot fault the appearance & beauty of the place. Problem was the price of what you actually got. The staff never smiled, very morbidly dark welcome. Me & friend walked up to entrance with large suitcases and... More

My company had arranged a conference at this hotel and 3 of us stayed the night before, Monday 13 May 2013. Difficult to find entrance due to satnav meltdown although easy to find actual hotel but we had also booked parking. More signage would have helped. Fantastic building, helpful staff and good venue for conference. Niggles only minor but being... More

I stayed at the Malmaison Oxford over the May 2013 bankholiday weekend. Firstly this hotel is in a fantastic location for exploring the city and is a very impressive building. The interior is beautiful, slick and quirky with the original cells and stairs etc. Our room was very well appointed and comfortable. The down side is the situation of the... More

I tried to book a room for myself and my disabled relative for dinner, bed and breakfast for two nights in June. I had to telephone the hotel to make sure they have the appropriate equipment for my relative's needs. I got an automated option and was put through to a receptionist who answered my questions about disabled facilities then... More

Hotel has an excellent location walking distance from the train station and city centre; there are also bus stops outside if you are going further afield. The hotel grounds do have bars and restaurants, but the roof top bar was closed even though the weather was great??. The reception is dark and there are 3/4 reception desks with chairs, there...
