The hotel business is not inexpensive in the UK, and Tower House is not dirt cheap either, but considering the market, it's the best you can get. The location is phenomenal: Ship Street is a tiny lane off Cornmarket St., with all major colleges in short walking distance, the Bodleian library and the Ashmolean (now regrettably closed) around the corner.... more

I stayed at the Tower House for two nights 15-16 April 2009 while attending a conference in Oxford. The location is very central - close to all the attractions of Oxford and to several Colleges. The hotel is tiny, a real character place to stay, with clean and comfortable individual rooms. Facilities are fine, breakfast of good B&B standard and... more

Having an afternoon and evening to spare before continuing onto business in Cardiff, I decided to spend it in Oxford (easy to get to on public transportation from Heathrow Terminal 5). Having read the reviews for Tower House Hotel and noting that it was fairly central, I made a reservation. The welcome was warm, and provision of directions to various... more

We stayed for 3 nights in the Jade room. This "hotel" has no reception, no foyer in fact no facilities whatsoever. You ring a door bell and arrive into a very narrow hallway. Yes, I agree with other reviewers that the property is old and quirky but it is also very shabby in parts. The stair carpet needs replacing, plaster... more

Very easy walking distance to everything I wanted to do in Oxford. The Saxon Tower (dating back to the year 1040) is only 120 steps from the Tower House Hotel. The Sheldonian Theatre (where Handel and Hayden both performed) is only a block away. It's just a 5 minute walk to the C.S. Lewis Tour point. Shopping on High Street... more

We've just got back from a nights stay at the Tower House hotel. From reading others reviews we thought it was worth a visit and we weren't disappointed. We were looking for a central hotel that had a bit of character and this hotel delivered 100% on both fronts. We stayed in the Jade room which overlooked one of the... more

First of all, I should note that I originally booked through booking.com- and then discovered that it was less expensive to book directly with the hotel- always check with the hotel beforehand! The location of the B & B is perfect: right in the heart of Oxford, convenient to Broad Street, High Street, St. Giles, etc., but on a quiet... more

This is more of a posh B&B than a hotel proper, but it is delightful. I stayed one night here in July, in a lovely room (the Yellow room) - not large but with great character. The triangular shower room was fun! Good choice of books in the bookcase outside the room. Continental breakfast was varied and plentiful, although I... more

We stayed in this lovely little hotel for one night. It's right in the centre of Oxford in a beautiful 17th Century building. The room we had was great and really quite big and was once part of the old town wall. The bathroom was ensuite but the bath was very small and there was only a shower attachment. For... more

The staff were really friendly and helpful, the hotel is in a great central location, our room was a good size and had an en-suite shower room (we were in the 'Jade Room') and there was plenty of food available for breakfast. Given all the above the price was excellent; I'd certainly not see any point in paying more to... more
