After booking at a discounted rate of £79 per night, I had lowered my expectations of the quality of the hotel. Upon arrival (after being well directed by mr tom tom!) I was happily suprised by the location as it is nicely hidden away amongst a small village outside the city. We were moved from the main hotel to a... more

I stayed here for two nights at the end of Oct whilst attending a training course at the nearby Oxford Science park. In general Hawkwell House has rather a neglected air - it's faded, dingy and needs a complete makeover. While I was there, the reception hall was receiving a new coat of paint, but it needs more than a... more

Arrived after a long flight from Australia at about 8am, miles too early for check in. Staff very welcoming, couldn't check in early because the place was full but staff let me freshen up, including giving me a cup of tea and offering breakfast, let me leave my bags etc. Room very comfortable, spacious and clea. Good facilities, lovely deep... more

The service our tour group experienced was second to none, all the staff rallied around to help our guests wherever they could. A warm reception was received by all upon arrival and during the stay nothing was too much to ask. The hotel catered to the groups needs, halal meat was provided for every meal. The rooms are large and... more

The outside is disappointing compared to the website pictures - it looks like a typical conference centre hotel and this was borne out by the somewhat shabby reception. We were in the annex which is a short walk up hill - no offer of help in getting the bags up. The rooms were spacious and modern with good sized bathrooms... more

I ended up at the Hawkwell house by default: All the other hotels that I usually stay in were fully booked. This proved to be fortunate as it's the best place I've stayed in Oxford! The room assigned to me was in the Elm house annexe - a short walk from the main building. Luckily the weather remained dry during... more

The Oxford Hawkwell Hotel, the name from their website, is also known and rated as Hawkwell Hotel Oxford, and Hawkwell House hotel. Hawkwell house is the name of the main house in the hotel grounds. My wife and I stayed for two nights. The hotel was spotless, our room in the main house was newly and pleasantly decorated. The bed... more

Well, what can we say. The room were of a decent size, and the location was good. That said, everything else was an utter disappointment. From the website you would imagine the restaurant was one of the finer Italian restaurants in Oxford. However, after having breakfast in the same room we were apalled from ever visiting the diningfacilities again. Service... more

This is one of those hotels where someone has spent a lot of money on their website and good photos for their website but the actual hotel is deprived of any investment. I have stayed in many hotels but this has to be rated as the filthiest. The tub hadn’t been cleaned (hairs in the bathtub) and the bed skirt... more

I only stayed one night and did not leave the hotel so I cannot comment on the area. This hotel has the potential to be very good. Generally the decor was very good. The receptionist was very efficient. The room was a good size with a very good shower. I am not sure how the ceiling heating will work on... more
