Such a charming site! Twenty of us with Friendship Force-Louisville stayed here for three days. The hotel was an inn as far back as the 1200s. Became a glove factory at one point . . . then back to the inn it is today. I've stayed at The Bear several times now; it's the best in town; there's a few places to stay as well which are ok, but not a patch on The Bear. Breakfast is great, loads of variety and eat as much as you like. Sometimes I'm late up so they even do me a take away! I had dinner one... more

We stayed at the Bear two years ago but it seems to be under new management and it has seriously deteriorated. The Ladies toilet has broken and tatty soap dispenser which meant you couldn't wash your hands. Not very hygienic, and noticed staff used this facility too. Disgusting. Overpriced. more
