I really liked the classic look of this hotel back when it was The Renaissance. Now it's changed to a purple-hued 'wannabe-trendy' bar/hotel. First time in this hotel although visited some other hotels in Reading...I enjoyed the location as very close to town and the bar was excellent, never seen a bar like this in a hotel! The service was polite but not intrusive, breakfast was very good although didn't visit the restaurant for dinner. Just had some room service which cannot complain! more

Stayed here recently and found the room to be comfortable. It looks like the whole hotel has been refurbished very recently. The only thing that was still being done was one of the 2 lifts. we stayed here 1 night after a disaster at another so called hotel.glad we found the penta as it was very comfortable and the desk staff were very helpful and friendly.The only complaint i have is the parking situation,not on the premesis but close,and you have to pay separately.Glad it wasn't raining. more
