Didnt have high hopes given how reasonable the cost was so wasn't expecting The Hilton, More like The Stilton. Check in quick and efficient. Room had very squeaky bed, so every time my girlfriend scratched down below the whole hotel knew about it (No wonder we got funny looks at breakfast). Had Readings' smallest window, I saw a blue bottle... more

It's feels like an old place, which made it a bit charming in my opinion (I like the old English buildings), but it wasn't kept up quite as much as it could have been. It wasn't bad though - unless you're unlucky enough to have a noisy neighbor in the next room. The walls seem to be very thin. It... more

My partner booked a double room at this hotel for a two night weekend break. The man who checked us in was miserable and unhelpful, but that didn't bother us too much once we got our room key. However once we got in the room we had been given a grubby twin room with two single beds. We asked to... more

They booked their room through one website where it shows Twin/Double, so it could be anything. They did not double only at all.Anyway when they check in we had allocated them twin room, they asked for double we changed the room without any delay. They stayed for 2 nights but they never report to us about shower otherwise we would have fixed it....

Oh dear I should have read the other comments before I booked! A dark atmosphere seemed to surround the outside of this place and it got darker as I stepped into the dimly lit hall. The attitude of the receptionist/manager proved to be appaling; he was rude and nosey. What's more the room was cold, the toilet had fag butts... more

I had to stay last night (2 Jan 2007) at short notice and booked through Active. The hotel description and pictures looked good on the website and I wanted a hotel with Internet Access to do some work. The main door was locked and the reception area was dark and dingy. There is no where to eat in the hotel... more

The overall feeling was one of a spinechilling thriller. As we approached the locked front door, it mystically opened - Dorma doors we thought... how posh. Nope. Man standing behind - but not revaling himself. The small reception area keeps it's lights off to intensify the eerie feel - but really I reckon it's just a bit of energy/ money... more

I was attending a three-day course at a nearby business park and I selected the Crescent Hotel for its relative nearness to Reading City Centre, its price and its offer of free wireless connection. Overall I was slightly disappointed by the hotel but, with one exception, there was nothing seriously wrong with it. The receptionist was slightly offish with me... more
