Stayed here for one night at the begining of November. Booked about 2 months in advance and got their best suite for £165 (about half the price of what it usually is) Good Points: . Nice lobby and friendly reception. . Check in was quick and easy. . Our room or the "Mallad Suite" was very impressive! Especially the bathroom... more

Right in front of Reading rail station, close to supermarket and restaurants. Yet hotel was poorly cleaned. Arrived and there was hair in shower and shower sink totally plugged. Room was not really cleaned during my three-day stay for some reason. Breakfast was good and service really good too but no skimmed milk was available more

We booked via hotel's own website at an offer of £75 r/o. Was given a lovely big room which had everything you'd need in. Hotel has very friendly and welcoming staff, perfectly situated right by the bars and shopping. Only downsides.. hotel quite dark, not so good for putting on make up! and car parking can be pricey. more

We have just spent one night in this hotel and overall were very pleased with the quality of the hotel. Rooms were lovely, bathroom was very nice with separate bath and rainshower. Also good toiletries and fluffy towels.Very comfortable beds, duvets & pilows. Breakfast menu was excellent including eggs benedict (my favourite) and the usual full english. Please take care... more

Me and my partner recently stayed at the Malmaison hotel in Reading. As we’re not going on a big summer holiday this year we wanted to get away somewhere lovely and luxurious for one night as a treat. We chose to stay in Reading because of the hotel, knowing that there would be little to do there in terms of... more

Aptly named, Mal Maison translates literally as "bad house". Would be ideal for a brief illicit rendevous with a gothic stranger - nothing more. Terrible lighting, had to crawl around the dark floor looking for outlets, received multiple access codes for the internet (that didn't work), and the food was incredibly overpriced. Paying $50. for breakfast for 2 (dry rubbery... more

My husband and I visited the Malmasion for our wedding anniversary. It's well situated right opposite Reading station and is a short walk to the main shops and bars in the town. The hotel is indeed very dark, and once we found our way to the front desk we were greeted by the not overly helpful reception staff. I had... more

We have stopped in many Malmaison's - and we love em! However, our 2 visits to the Reading one has not been so great. The biggest problem is that the hotel is deliberately dark and moody. This means...putting on make up is difficult, reading a paper is practically impossible and you can't see what you are eating. We have now... more

This was my second stay in this hotel. I have also tried Mal at Oxford, twice and we ate there on my daughter's birthday two years ago. Firstly the good points. I think it represents excellent value. The room is spacious, large shower, comfortable bed smooth sheets, air conditioning and reasonably well equipped with the usual tea, coffee, ironing thingies. Just a few... more
