I'm a fan of Novotel - have stayed in them all over the world from French roadside to Darling Harbour (excellent), but this is the worst. The worst by many kilometres. This hotel markets itself as a 4 star hotel, but realistically, it's more 3 star. The room wasn't anything special, despite the fact that we paid £20 more for a de-luxe room. Just returned after a five night stay at the Novotel Sheffield and have to say that this is not a place I will ever choose to return to. I don't think our room was one of the newly refurbished rooms as others have mentioned. The toilet was separate to the bathroom and was very dated, overall not exactly modern accomodation, although as you would expect the reception area is very smart! this hotel feels rather cramped inside but the rooms are quite modern and clean. the staff didn't really show us much interet. more

The hotel has recently been refurbished and looks much more modern and spacious. We had one of the new refurbished rooms on the fifth floor which was nice and clean.
