We stayed at the Rutland Hotel for 3 nights whilst attending a wedding. We arrived at around midnight to find that our room had not been equipped with a cot and the sofa bed had not been made up. All the rooms in the hotel have been refurbished now. My parents stayed in the Hurlstone Suite (lovely!) and our room was also very modern and funky. I too wished I had read the reviews of this hotel before staying here, fortunately I was only staying the one night. The reception staff were friendly and courteous, though on reflection i think they were just being apologetic as they knew what the rooms are like (appaling). I stopped here for my graduation with my parents, as did a friend of mine and his parents. They got a gorgeous room with lovely decor and furniture. I got one of the 'standard' rooms which wouldn't be out of place in a 1960s hostel. The decor is drab, the floorboards creak like mad, the shower probably hasn't been replaced... more
