Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Weekend with all the family (11 in total occupying 6 double rooms) to celebrate our patriarch’s 80th birthday. Paul and Barbara, owners of the hotel, gave us a great deal. Welcomed by Sarah who was wonderful from start to finish. Dinners on both Friday and Saturday were delicious and beautifully presented. Chef is obviously master of his art and has a team of well trained staff producing high quality dishes. Waiting on staff Ollie and Catherine were charming and efficient. Breakfasts table served and great. Can highly recommend staying here.

The hotel is ideally suited. It’s a few hundred yards from the town centre and feels like it’s in the country. It’s lovely and warm and well looked after. The room we had was clean and warm and had a good view of the castle. The breakfast was lovely. Particular praise goes to the manager who was helpful and efficient and to the waitress at breakfast who gave us excellent service. I found nothing to fault this hotel and would recommend it.

We had a lovely long weekend in Ludlow based out of The Cliffe which is in walking distance of everything in the town. Our room in the separate cottage was warm and comfortable. The delicious breakfast at the hotel was cooked fresh to order. We returned from our days activities to share a few drinks at the reception/bar and to play board games with our friends. On our last day we had a wonderful Sunday roast at the hotel before our journey home.

This is a long overdue review - I don't often venture onto Tripadvisor but as we are nearly at the New Year again it reminded me of the truly excellent meal here. I was staying at a different hotel in Ludlow with my partner and another couple. We'd booked to eat here on the evening of New Year's Day - not the most popular evening to eat out and most restaurants were closed. In fact the Cliffe at Dinham was closing for a break the next day. Despite this we had the most superb meal; the manager served us himself in the most professional but friendly manner and even gave us some extra treats as the food would otherwise have been wasted. If I'm ever in Ludlow again I'll definitely eat here - in fact I'd probably stay here.

This is a lovely place to stay. It describes itself as a restaurant with rooms but the rooms are of a high standard. The food excellent and the staff are friendly, helpful and thoughtful. A good base to explore the area. The only thing that could be improved is the Wi-Fi

Our stay was spoilt by an incident on the first morning. We were asked on arrival when we would like breakfast and it was agreed on 9.30. We came down the following morning at 9.32 , only to be told by the young lady at reception that we could not have a cooked breakfast , as 9.30 was the cut off point. We were very shocked by this and it was compounded by her very aggressive manner, when we expressed our frustration. We reported this to the receptionist in the afternoon , who was very apologetic and shocked too.She said she would tell the owner. The owners who were both around, didn’t even apologise .We had to ask for a reduction to cover the cost of the cooked breakfast that we were refused, as it was not offered. We shall not return.

Lovely stay here for 1 night on a bed and breakfast basis. I booked a King En-suite which was a lovely room at the back of the property on the first floor overlooking allotments which was lovely and quiet. The bed was a king size one and lovely and comfortable. The bathroom was a nice decent size and a lovely walk in shower. You need to book your time for breakfast the night before which was fine with us. A nice varied choice for breakfast and you are served at your table. The breakfast was delicious. I cannot comment on the evening meal as we ate in Ludlow itself. In the summer I think you could walk there in the daylight but at this time of year it is not suitable to walk so we had a taxi there and back which was reasonable. We enjoyed ourselves and have booked again for next year.

A warm welcome gets you off on the right foot especially when you have to wait till 4pm to check in. Sadly we didn’t receive a friendly welcome here: it was brusque. Our room was basic and characterless and being pressured to specify a time for breakfast (at check in after a long and tiring journey) reinforced my impression that customers are really a bit of a nuisance to this establishment. Foolishly I’d only glanced at the reviews before our stay. Had I done so I’d have known what to expect. We were sent, not taken, to characterless accommodation away from the main building and, given the generally indifferent attitude of the reception person, chose to go elsewhere for dinner. One to avoid in future.

Really great location, in that it is in a quiet area but a short and lovely walk into town. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and made with care and great ingredients. Very good value for money.
