Good location, but road is noisy. We asked for a room with three beds, which we were told was possible. Beds were old, and the third was an old Z bed, saggy and small. The duvets were narrow. The carpet needed cleaning, and we had to ask for extra things for the third person, towel, cup, biscuits etc. There was... more

Just back from a 2 night weekend having tried out the wrexham to Marylebone railway special. Hotel is central, so noisy, is cozyish and has a very nice walled garden and terrace. Inside is a friendly wine bar and small very chilly restaurant of about 8 tables. Food was good but served by young student types. I guess lacking in... more

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cromwells in Shrewsbury this weekend. If it's 5* hotel perfection, air-conditioning or adjacent car parking that you're seeking, then I suggest you look elsewhere. However, if you're looking for somewhere central with character, a comfortable room, great restaurant, very pleasant beer garden, exemplary service, and a good breakfast, then I'll say that Cromwells is... more

our room was very uncomfortable. the room overlooked the bins and also the air conditioning or something similar. It hummed all night and we couldn't have the window open because of the noise. The smell from the kitchen when we arrived back at the hotel at midnight was horrendous (we were just above it) The underfloor heating in the bathroom... more

A fantastic little rustic hotel, booked the whole place otu for a weekend for miliatary tour. Was a bit worried abotu how the staff would treat us but could not have been more hospitable and friendly. They treated us like family form the first minute we arrived, until the moment we left. Inevitably there were some minor incidents in the... more

A nice little hotel with very polite and friendly staff. The restaurant offers a wide and varied menu and all meals seem to be very freshly prepared. A good range of beers is on offer at the bar although a little highly priced. There is an excellent two-level patio area at the rear. However the nearest parking to the hotel... more

We broke our golden rule and did not look at Trip Advisor before booking but thought hotel looked good on website. It's an old hotel full of character but really grubby and smelt dirty despite the numerous plug in air fresheners. The room appeared not to have been cleaned at all whilst we were there and we kept finding debris... more
