We stayed at the excellent Ashley Villa Hotel on Friday evening and were very impressed with our brief but perfect stay. There were five of us in the party and we had two rooms, one of which opened directly on to the garden and swimming pool terrace. We were well looked after and the breakfast was good too. A short... more

Having a 4 rosette award from the English Tourist Board and 4 diamonds from the AA, I expected something really good, as it so appeared on its website. However, on arriving, the first obstacle to overcome was finding alternative parking as the disabled car park bay directly in front of the entrance was not only blocking the entrance, but blocked... more

I had to find a place at short notice so this wasn't the first choice. The accommodation was okay but nothing to write home about. The breakfast was reasonable but a larger selection of cereal would have been nice (there were 2 china bowls with cereal in to self serve, I'm sure this is cheaper for the hotel but I... more

This is a delightful little hotel - pleasing decor, comfortable beds, nice bathroom, friendly staff.... need I go on? I travel a lot and found the welcome at Ashley Villa warm and inviting. I also liked the informal atmosphere, the comfortable lounge and sitting-out area by the pool. In fact, it would be hard to fault this place. Of particular... more

Booked here for 2 nights, their website showed a 4-diamond rating so we were looking forward to something good. On arrival although everything seemed in order it was at best average. It makes me think twice to consider using tourist board ratings in future. The 4-diamond rating is clearly just a "ticking the box" exercise, i.e. meeting the bare minimum... more

Management response from

We take valid criticism seriously and personally. Ashley Villa is our only business and only form of income, so if our guest house was as bad as this guest makes out we would be out of business in months and our repeat guests would not return. We do not live on site but we are there most week days and...

Nice bed & breakfast but some way out of the city so you need to be prepared to either walk for a while or use bus/taxi/car. Breakfast was excellent, can't complain. Enough choice and tasty. A couple of things that were a little annoying. I was told that there was WiFi but it didn't work in my room although I... more

Had one night here to see sights of Bath. Booked twin room, it was very clean and modern with new bathroom, good towels, soap, bedlinen, heating, hotwater, tho' beds a little soft for us. Good breakfast. Friendly, helpful owners and checked that we could leave car in carpark until later on day of departure. We had bikes with us, so... more

After a warm welcome from a young couple, comfortable night sleep and being accomodated for a late breakfast the first morning, it exceeded my expectations...but on my last night I was very tired after a long day and all I wanted was a hot bath, when this grumpy old man started knocking on my door telling me there was a... more

Clean, and tidy. Room bright and airy. Had a problem with the shower which was not sorted out. The owner wasn't on site but passed on a message saying "shower was OK" Front of the house very noisy due to traffic noise, and pedestrian crossing outside. Breakfast was good, with plenty of choice. more

I am a little bit surprised at the number of positive reviews given to Ashley Villa, and equally surprised at its 4* rating with the British tourist board. To me, this hotel was just average, and certainly not the equal of the three b&b's we had stayed in on previous nights. The room was very small and the furnishings a... more
