We stayed at the Francis Hotel for three nights in late April and overall found the hotel as advertised. We stayed in one of the renovated rooms on the first floor and the room itself was spacious, clean, and well appointed. The room did not appear run down at all. The hotel itself was also very nice, however, as I... more

Overall, this is an “OK” Hotel in an excellent location, which would be vastly improved by a lick of paint. Our room was on the top floor. Fortunately neither my wife nor I are particularly tall otherwise we would have had a problem. The doors and ceilings are really low and even lower in the shower, although the bathroom was... more

Stayed here as a family unit (group of 4, 2 rooms) in January, 2009 in the midst of winter. The location is fantastic, close to the Thermae Baths and to the city center. What really impressed me was the service. I left a laptop adapter in a desk draw forgot to take it home with me at the end of... more

This was a last minute booking and we were informed that our room would be a 'small double'. On arrival, we gained access to the rear car park, which has limited parking spaces. The receptionist was helpful with providing local information. The room was actually reasonably sized, clean with pleasant decor but was rear facing with no view. The bathroom... more

Stayed here two nights - generally disappointing. The decor in the room was poor, the shower sent half the water down the wall and onto the floor, and the TV wasn't tuned properly. On the second night I asked to be moved and they didn't seem surprised. The receptionist started to make the change but stopped to deal with the... more

Had a pleasant stay early March, two couples booked on a 2 night B&B package with one night evening meal for £250 for each double room, so reasonable value for Bath. Good location, we travelled by train so no problem with parking but there was a car park (pay extra) if needed. Rooms were a bit tired but ok, all... more

Stayed for one night at the end of February, we had a room on the first floor which was newly renovated, so nice and fresh and clean. As others had mentioned the TV's are really strange, small portable like the type I had in my bedroom as a teenager! There were two members of staff on reception, a really nice... more

This ought to be a great, atmospheric traditional hotel, but our experience suggests that the management and owners just see this busy hotel as a 'cash cow', and that they have no pride in it. We were pre-booked and on arrival were allocated Room 328. This small room, might have been just big enough for staff, but not for guests.... more

The breakfast was chaotic the hot and cold buffet together around... more

We spent a weekend at the Francis in early December to visit the Christmas markets and really enjoyed the location and cosy room. We stayed on the 1st floor which is newly renovated to a high standard that was slightly let down by the aging TV. The amenities are good and the room was spacious and clean. The hotel hosted... more
