Hotel is lovely on approach but budget room which wasn't cheap was tiny . . hardly any room to put out anything in the bathroom and there were 3 clearly visible stains on the bedroom carpet. Bar area was dated and chairs a bit worn. Staff were lovely and very friendly however and the breakfast was gorgeous. more

The budget room is VERY small, the comment "not enough room to swing a cat around", springs to mind. There is no lift and we were 3 flights up, the stair tread was narrow so it would be easy to miss your step. It was clean and you have all you needed, they replaced tea etc daily. Breakfast was very... more

Having read some of the other reviews I wonder if we stayed in the same hotel. If you like regimentation or being back in school, then this is the place for you. On the plus side, the cooked breakfast is good - so long as in mid-week you can manage the 8 to 8.45 time limit. The other plus point... more

Management response from
County1819, Owner

As an owner of The County B&B not hotel as mentioned I am suprised to read the guests found the stairs steep; there are 22 stairs to the first floor and 18 which are steeper to the 2nd floor. This is the first occasion we have had a complaint as in our confirmation letters it mentions 'No lift ' and...

The Management and Staff were so professional, friendly and welcoming. Our bedroom was spacious and well equipped and gave us a wonderful view of Bath Abbey and beyond. After a stay of 5 nights it was time to return home; however due to the dreadful floods in Yorkshire we discovered (having travelled from Bath Spa station to Bristol Temple Meads)... more

EXTREMELY DANGEOUS STEEP STAIRS and no elevator. We are in good shape and in our 40's but I slipped down the steps and saw much older people having serious problems getting up and down the steps. They are slippery and steep. I noticed the maid spraying wood polish on the railing and she got it on the carpet which made... more

This was our second visit to the County, as two years previous we had found it an excellent Bed and Breakfast. This time the service was very different. We arrived early, 12 noon, which to be fair was our problem not theirs. We were greeted by a receptionist that told us we were early and that was that. She did... more

We stayed for the August Bank Holiday weekend, the Hotel was clean, the room was a small double which was adequate the bed was so comfy, the towels were beautifully fluffy. Our room was a bit hot so we asked for a fan from reception, which they supplied we had daily papers delivered to our room at no extra charge.... more

I really enjoyed my stay at the County Hotel. The staff were very friendly and efficient, the room was lovely (and incredibly clean) and the bed was soooo comfy. The towels were really fluffy and the samples of toiletries were very useful. The bar has almost every drink you can think of and the barmaid was experienced and helpful. The... more
