4 Dec 2009 | Trip type: Friends getaway

Four of us, two couples, coming from France. We came to Bath for a short trip. Frankly, on november the 13th and the 14th, the weather was awful, one of the worse british weather. We understood why British people say that they walk IN the rain, while we, in France, walk UNDER the rain. But we had booked in this... more

I know everyone has said everything to be said about this place but as a person who spends Monday to Friday in hotels and Bed and Breakfasts for the last 10 years, this is the first time I have ever felt the need to leave a review about a place that I have stayed in. I was recommend this place... more

My wife and I recently enjoyed two nights in the Chinese Room at the Hollies. David and Joe are excellent hosts and have a beautiful home, full of gorgeous objects of interest. Breakfast was superbly prepared and presented in their very elegant dining room. The Library provides additional space for guests although our room was so beautifully furnished we were... more

If you are looking for a B & B with excellent taste throughout this is the place for you. The library is a treasure and the hosts are very welcoming and efficient. The cooking is superb. The garden has the world's biggest begonias that were still looking fresh at the end of October! There is also an excellent restaurant nearby... more

Really enjoyed our stay here based on Trip Advisor reviews. We had a great welcome and Joe was really attentive at checking we understood everything about the room. Useful info provided on all the nearby restaurants. We had a private bathroom which was excellent. The place has a really nice, homely feel - the breakfast is excellent. Their cat is... more

Charming Georgian former curate's house in secluded yet accesible loacation adajcent to parish church, roughly 1.5 miles from the city centre. We had the Indian Room (twin) - very comfortable beds, en suite shower and very individual decor (as have all the rooms). The Library, off the half-landing, was a nice surprise and a pleasant diversion. Breakfast: full English with... more

An excellent decision to consult the Bath Tourist Board website to book ahead and to select The Hollies( even though we found out later that it is sometimes cheaper to book direct) With the experience of running a much larger hotel behind them, David and Jo are the perfect hosts. Care and attention to detail are their watch-words, from the... more

The Hollies is situated on the corner of one of the main access road to Bath but we did not find road noise a problem. It's a downhill walk into the city centre, we took the bus option for the return. Items collected by the owners on their travels fill the rooms. We stayed in the Chinese room, from the... more

The Hollies is a delight and run with love and flair by David and Joe. Attention to detail is excellent; everything you could need is catered for. Bath is hilly, so expect steep walks, but use David's recommended route.Sunday morning if fine, watch the hot air balloons take off from near the Royal Crescent. We would stay here again with pleasure. more
