I had a delightful 2 night stay at Shambhala in November 2009. The first thing to hit me when I walked through the door was the unbelievable amount of energy in the place - not just because it is nestled at the bottom of the tor or on a Ley line nor solely because of the amazing crystal star in... more

I first found Shambhala Five years ago ( by lucky chance on the internet) and I have been returning as often as possible ever since.(even pullling the occasional "sickie" from work to do so.) If you like Cheerful mornings, with a lusicious breakfasts around a huge farm table, great chats with like minded travellors, playing fetch with the dogs in... more

Hidden gem! I had such a lovely time in this beautiful place. This is my second time here to stay. The location is perfect, situated directly beneath the Tor. Includes a lovely breakfast in the morning on a huge dining table right on a leyline. Meditation rooms inside and a meditation space outside in the garden. The staff are friendly... more

It was like stepping into a magical world. The beautiful dove cote with doves cooing on my window sill in the morning, the friendly staff, the beautiful crystal star in the courtyard, and the Blue Well room for quiet reflection. I loved being right on the Tor as well. I felt peaceful, refreshed, revitalised and ready to face the world... more

We were greeted with such warmth and homeliness at Shambala. There is a reverence to this place that not many so called 'retreats' can ever produce. You wont find a retreat in the hollywood sense but I think that is a bonus!! Shambala is a place for people to rest in the heart and find a place of peace for... more

shambala claims to be a place of "Universal Compassion". Don't waste your time. and learn from my mistake! The owner is excellent at "new age marketing" and creating a seductive website but I found myself leaveing quite upset and stressed by the whole expereince. I was not met with compassion but abrutness and was very "talked at" during my two... more

I like dogs, a home - like atmosphere and kind hearted people, so for me, Shambhala was real pleasure. If I had wanted a "retreat" in the Club Med mode, I could have booked one. What was I got was the time of peace and healing that I needed. more

I booked one night here with a friend and as soon as we walked in the front door the smell of dog hit you in the face like a truck and dog hair covered virtually everything! They were lovely dogs but I would definately advise asthmatics to steer well clear of this place!! We didn't actually spend any time in... more

If your life is poised on the brink of a black hole, then this is the place for you to make for. The first time I visited Elisis and Shambhala, I was coming to terms with my third marriage breaking up. I thought I was the worst person on earth and that everyone hated me. I was exhausted, frightened and... more

I SO wish I had read these reviews before I went. The moment I arrived I rang the bell of a locked gate and was greeted with a brash "Yes?". Wandered in a dark overgrown arrangement of paths and didn't really know where to go once I eventually found the door. The place reeked of dog and I nearly wretched... more
