Booked into the Manor for 1 night as we went to Alton Towers for the day,The Manor sounded lovely, we arrived there about 4 the welcome wasn't a warm welcoming. They asked if we would be dining with them and showed us a menu the price was way too high and later that evening we saw some diners as we had a drink at the bar (those prices were OTT too) and the meals to me were half portions and i don't have a big appetite.Glad we skiped that one, the chinese was nice up the road.
We spoke to the Landlord as we had our drink and asked him about the town and he said it was full of idiots and to me weather they were or not he shouldn't have knocked the town like that. that was fine we slept well in the room nice and cosy and warm i liked it. I Booked this hotel whilst having a three day break with my girlfriend and going to Alton Towers for the day.

We spent the night here and arrived toward the last seating for an evening meal - after a long car ride from our previous destination we never felt like eating at the hotel, so we settled for fish and chips in the village !

Well the hotel is nice as are the gardens, and little bridge, but the cottage/courtyard style garden views are very much 'Butlins like' and we could both see the reasons for the signs in them stating all food must be consumed that was purchased on the property, otherwise they would face the possibility of being thrown out !

I for one could imagine a couple with a child tucking into crisps and a fizzy drink whilst waking up to the call of "ding dong' morning campers !!

The reception and staff were very polite, but it didn't have the feel of a Manor retreat and nice rooms which appear in all the picture's of the hotel...
