Accommodation fair if very dated and a tad grubby - also no linen provided for our son's bed. Breakfast passable but you need to be there early otherwise no clean tables available and no tea/coffee left. The one evening meal we had was awful. Chef spoiled rice so had to have chips with curry, the meals then arrived at different... more

We stayed at this hotel with friends for a friend’s birthday. We love it here & the staff were really friendly. You have to be out of the room by 11am the day after though whereas other hotels you have till mid day which is better when you have been out for drinks the night before, The hotel is clean... more

Burslem has some amazing buildings and good access to central Stoke by public transport. Clearly a lot of the area is very run down and the city needs massive sums spent to properly come in to the 21st century. The Arnold Bennett connection should be enhanced. The George is central to all this; my room was very clean and quiet.... more

My girlfriend and I were sold by the hotel photos supplied on the websites and it was close to Alton Towers. The rooms look spacious, clean and pretty modern. DONT BE FOOLED!! I wouldn’t want anybody else to suffer the filthy conditions we had to sleep in. The facilities listed are a joke. The hotel parking is tiny with enough... more

Having stayed before thought I could bare it. How wrong I was. Woken at night twice by road noise and an alarm. Some rooms very noisy. Then at breakfast, which was horrid, I could not eat it. I was putting stuff into car and noticed the chef outside smoking. I noticed that when I came inside he came through the... more

We stayed at The George to be close to family. The hotel is very dated and generally in need of some financial investment on furnishing and fixtures. The stair carpets are worn, dirty and dangerous with no stair tread on the main staircase in several places. The first room we were offered was dreadful. After a couple more trys we... more

After reading a lot of the reviews on here I felt that I needed to make a comment. As a local business we looked around for an ideal hotel to accommodate our new customers who we visiting our company from Finland, they had previously stopped in the stakis hotel in Hanley for their first visit. When making the reservation I... more

I chose this hotel due to the location of a business I was visiting. Firstly the positives. The staff are all very good, friendly and helpful. The food was nice, in particular the breakfast. The public areas are reasonable and of a fairly good standard. Now the negatives. The rooms are not nice, in fact if the Hotel Inspector called... more

Our room was musty, the curtain was coming off the rail,a light was broken and the floor was dirty. After complaining we were moved to an 'executive' room that smelt musty and dirty, had wallpaper coming off the wall, and a dirty bathroom floor. The breakfast had a rancid and greasy smell and taste. A very disapointing hotel that I... more
