We stayed in the Dunan House last weekend to celebrate me turning Sixty. We have visted Aldeburgh many times over the years staying in different hotels, and cottages. This was our first time at the Dunan House. Both Simon and Ann are friendly hosts and take time to talk to their guests. We stayed in the top room, bags of... More

We have just returned from a lovely long weekend at Dunan House - Anne and Simon made us feel so welcome and the house is beautiful and in a great location about 10 minutes walk to the beach and high street. Our daughter was particularly enamoured by the dog, Shrub, and the little touches that had been left for her... More

A wonderfully comfortable and warm place stay at. Totally convivial atmosphere, offering all the luxuries of home, fantastic breakfast and a lot more. Highly recommended to anyone who wants the best from Aldeburgh and a welcoming retreat to slip back to at the end of the day.

Friendly clean rooms, airy and interesting. Perfect location for town far enough away from the hussle and bussle yet only a 10 minute walk. Simon and Ann very interesting couple. We enjoyed their singing whilst preparing breakfast. They made our stay vet welcome. Thanks for a lovely weekend. Graham and Dawn.

First night of our holiday, bound for Norfolk, we stayed over at Dunan House. Had a lovely double room, light and airy, very comfortable and the breakfast was great. A very convenient 10 minute walk to town, tucked away in a quiet location. Try the Lighthouse restaurant in Aldeburgh...lovely food. Dunan House - heartily recommended!

We loved everything about Dunan House, position, the house itself, with its creative interior, our room, hosts and breakfast. Aldeburgh itself is lovely, with great walks. Regatta restaurant was good. We will definitely come again.

Just returned from an incredible birthday treat weekend in Aldeburgh, made all the more fantastic by a stay at Dunan House. In a beautiful private road is this stunning house, ecletically decorated, it even has a friendly dog! We slept in the room at the top, very romantic, gorgeous views from the windows and a huge shower! Breaksfasts were made... More

This property was recommended by Sawdays and also on Tripadviser but really did not live up to our expectations. Our arrival was far from welcoming, having rung the bell several times then opened the door and called out, Simon finally rushed through saying he was on an important phone call, shouted for Ann and rushed off. We waited some more... More

Oh dear, we did nothing right here. Only qualified praise for the fruit salad! Wow! Yes, we did cock up the welcome, big time. We both work in the day and I was on an important phone call and Ann was up to her elbows in clay. I thought she was answering the door and she thought I was !... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Dunan House is in the quiet part of the beautiful seaside town of Aldeburgh; looking out over the marshes to the river and beyond. The house is slightly grand, set back from the road in the centre of a large garden with many mature trees. You hardly feel you are in the town and yet the high street, shops, pubs, restaurants, cinema and the beach are all within a 10 minute walk. Inside, the rooms are spacious and comfortable. There is interesting art and craft throughout the house. Breakfast is pretty good too and includes fresh eggs from the Dunan House hens. ... more   less
