We arrived in Aldeburgh too late for any of the pubs to be serving food, which was just as well for the Cross Keys as their kitchen refurb. would have sent us elsewhere at any other time. Inside was a little dark and dingey for a summer's day (would be nice and cosy in the winter) but the staff was... More

Fresh urine on the toilet seat and dubious white stains on the sheets. Overpowering smell of fried food in the room too! Only stayed long enough to find somewhere else. Doesn't look like its been cleaned in ten years. Avoid like the plague!

Had stayed at this Pub/Hotel some time ago and found the place charming with hanging baskets and flowers outside the front of the pub with a seating area outside at the rear. Also the interior was clean and tidy. But what a difference of a few years and presumably ownership/tenancy makes.Admittedly we have had a cold winter but there was no trace... We only visited this Public House for a lunchtime meal, but a lovely atmosphere, roaring fire, very reasonable Bar meals and the drink prices were also reasonable very central location, it was winter time but a good outside area if the weather was warm,

We had originally booked elsewhere but didn't like the look of the place so we chanced it and stayed at the Cross Keys. the landlord made us welcome, we stayed in the double room with the 4 poster bed. The room was lovely, the bathroom was big and there were loads of towels. Do you want modern and high tech?... More

This was one of three pubs that we drank in during our recent stay here. And I wish we 'd just tried the other two (The White Hart and the Mill Inn). Other reviewers call it "unpretentious" and "quirky" - if they're euphemisms for " surly staff" and "scruffy" then I'd agree. I asked for a taster of a new... More

What is up with these people? We have just finished a last-minute-decision evening in this unpretentious traditional pub that serves good value pub grub. If you want gourmet gastro pub food then go elsewhere. We (two of us) just ate well for £20 washed down with a good pint of Adnams. Sorted!

We popped in for lunch and first impressions in the bar area were not great, could do with a bit of a spruce up etc. But as we saw they had tables out back with a view out to the sea we were happy to give it a try. However, we stood waiting and waiting to be served, we saw... More

We have a holiday home in Aldeburgh, are there every couple of weeks and love the place. The Cross Keys however is in drastic need of a refresh. Once or twice a year I pop in for a pint to see if there's any improvement. No, still smells of old cooking oil and fried food, the beer is warm, the... More

We visited Aldeburgh and decided to get something for lunch in the Cross Keys. The outdoor seating area was free of debris it's not the most picturesque of places. The menu was situated inside the pub next to a hatch for the kitchen, reminded me of an old style canteen. We both opted for an open sandwich. We had to... More
