If you want to have a hotel that is noisy, filthy, badly run, with rude staff, dirty sheets, horrendous food and is just generally awful...stay at the Royal Station Hotel in Newcastle upon Tyne. My experience there was dreadful. Go to almost any other hotel in Newcastle to get a better experience. How they have been awarded three stars is... more

My room must have been the smallest in the hotel. It was dated and had a musky smell. The curtains were thin which during May made the room bright at 430am. The room was also hot and without A/C. The window opened about 4 inch's to allow air in. Also the main train station is behind the hotel and you... more

I had a very good business stay at this refurbished hotel which is a really handsome old building with a great staircase for those who like Victorian architecture; good welcome at reception from nice girls, pleasant room service (and speedy) and a nice modern room with all the usual amenities plus a small complimentary mini bar with soft drinks. I... more

Cracking hotel, the only thing I could imagine being an issue would be parking, but we had no problems. Situated right next to the station we thought we might have a bit of noise but again, no problems. The room was of an excellent standard for the price (superior with breakfast at £80 on the sunday before bank holiday). Very... more

After spending two nights in a hostel, it was a delightful break! The room was clean, the staff helpful, and the rest was greatly appreciated. The hotel rooms have recently gone through a renovation, so they are bright and modern, while the lobby and public areas still has a slight air of wear. Included with the room was a small... more

Cost for twin room -reasonable. Room very small but clean and the hotel in ideal situation for shopping and venues etc. My complaint is on arrival the receptionist -Nicki was almost aggressive in her response when I asked if we could get into the room. She is what is known in Scotland as a 'nippy wee sweetie' She launched into... more

My husband and I stayed here in a superior room, as guests at a wedding in the hotel. We really enjoyed our stay and found the hotel very pleasant. The staff were particularly helpful and friendly. Our room (one of the recently refurbished), had a large bed, flat screen tv, nice furniture and a decent bathroom. The view from our... more

I was booked into this hotel by my company at the last minute as the usual hotels I use were unavailable, on reading the most recent reviews I thought the hotel may be OK. I arrived early evening and I was unable to get parking in any of the 7 or so spaces at the front of the hotel and... more

We stayed at the Royal Station Hotel in January this year as a birthday treat for my wife. I was pleased to see a very large refurbishment had been undertaken. The bedrooms are very well furnished and the new bathrooms are fabulous. Breakfast was buffet style and very good for the price. The staff were friendly and helpful and the... more
