The Martineau guest House dispelled all our previous poor opinions of Guest Houses. It was a beautiful historic building and our room, The Collingwood, lacked nothing in the way of comforts and amenities. We stayed at the Martineau for three nights and would thoroughly recommend this B & B and Tynemouth for a short break. Recently visited Tynemouth and North Shields with my cousin while re-tracing our family roots and can only say that we were struck by the friendliness of everyone in the area. My wife and I just returned from a last minute stay in Newcastle, (Tynemouth) and stayed at the Martineau Guest House. We were there 3 nights. we arrived at the b+b after a long journey but were immediately given a warm welcome by the owners.
