We've stayed in Newcastle lots of time and this hotel proved to be our least popular. The atmosphere is rather sterile and its not really a boutique hotel. It has the trappings - cream walls, brown bedhead, leather chairs, but no distinguishing features. Well, apart from the really badly stained carpet in our room, which at these prices was just... more

Having stayed at the Grey Street Hotel on two previous occasions I was very disappointed with their customer service on my most recent stay. Previously I have enjoyed first class service and really enjoyed the hotel. This occasion makes me consdier seriously whether or not I would return. First of all though a little about the hotel, the building is... more

Recently stayed for one night booking a Deluxe Double room. It's in a great location but once past the reception desk were not impressed with the room. King size bed was the only good thing really. Although it was clean in terms of dust, etc, It was very shabby - desperately in need of a refurbishment the cream carpets were... more

We booked this hotel with laterooms.com at 3 p.m. By 6.30 we were at the hotel. Unfortunately, by 7.00 p.m. we were on our way home. The hotel rooms, corridors and lift were so tiny they brought on a claustrophic panic attack. We explained this to the management and that we would have to leave. Although they obviously had a... more

For a boutique hotel, it is totally anonymous and lacking in character. The standard room was small and the decor was minimalist and unwelcoming, and apart from a small seating area by reception, there is no residents' lounge although there was a bar. Access to broadband from the room was expensive. Finding the hotel was a challenge as there is... more

My husband booked a 'deluxe' double room on a weekend deal as a birthday treat. If you're doing this, make sure you don't get room number one. The width of room number 1 is the same as the height (an absolute cube) and the bed wasn't even a double, it was a single and a half - smaller than we... more

We stayed on a Sunday night and were very pleased with the location of the hotel. It was only 5 minutes from the shops and station. The receptionist was not overly helpful and robotically gave us details. The deluxe room was lovely and spacious as was the bathroom and the contemporary decor was nice. The hotel adjoined The Living room... more

Stayed for four nights but overall the only thing which really convinced us was the good location. Furthermore, we still don t know if we got the deluxe double room which we had booked and paid for as it was small only prepared for one guest to stay in. The girls behind the reception seemed uninterested and not trained in... more

Stayed here for one night to go to a concert at Newcastle Arena. Great location for access to the arena, shopping, eating, drinking etc. However, this hotel was described as "boutique" which I think is a bit generous. Yes, there were little extras you wouldn't get in most hotels such as chocolates, fruit, range of toiletries and air conditioning but... more

We have just returned from a weekend at this hotel. We stayed in a deluxe room on the hotels dine and boogie rate - £179 per night including dinner in The Living Room on first night, wine and chocolates in room, free passes to nightclub and express breakfast on last morning. There were no chocolates in room, no express breakfast... more
