Having stayed at the hotel many years ago, the recollection was favourable, although also that of being a little tired. Following the refurbishment, the rooms are to a very high standard indeed (we opted for the higher spec) and at a more than competitive price. The restaurant is excellent for both evening meal and breakfast. The bar is also very... more

On the plus side - a double room very comfy, clean, spotless, rain shower. Black out curtains & did not hear a peep all night. Rest of hotel is very nice if a bit lacking in character. Right on the river front and Stratford, RSC. On the minus - firstly the receptionist on arrival was rather curt and unsmiling. I... more

We booked a suite as a birthday present and were looking forward to a superior room with all the glamour of a 'suite' What a disappointment. When we arrived the room was freezing, not what we expected at all. The heating didn't come on until late and even then it was still cold. The room was very basic and very dusty,... more

Stayed here over the Easter weekend for one night. Hotel is in a great central location. On arrival, the car park was full and very busy, so we were unable to find a space. We asked at reception where else we could we park. We were told to use the Alveston Manor, just across the road. There were plenty of... more

Brilliant location- very central. Refurb was good- our room was clean, well equipped, nice bed, furniture, bathroom. Breakfast was nice- cooked to order. Had it's own car park which was busy but just got a space- easter weekend. Would recommend it. We used the pool in the hotel opposite- alveston manner, which was quite nice- not huge but ok. more

Central location just over bridge from town centre. Helpful staff. The Bear pub on premises frequented by lots of locals. Bistrot Pierre fantastic food - don't normally eat in hotel restaurants but couldn't resist this one and were very impressed. Room service good and quick. Room very smart with powerful shower. more

Last minute booking as we had been badly let down by the Crowne Plaza in Birmingham. Staff couldn't have been more helpful, rooms recently refurbished to an excellent standard, delicious breakfast. One of the best city break hotels yet. 6 of us stayed and we all loved it! more

I took my boyfriend to Stratford to see some plays at the Courtyard Theatre and chose the Swan's Nest for its convenient location. We had a nice room overlooking the river, theatres and Holy Trinity Church, and a good-sized bathroom with bath and shower. Although attractively decorated and light, it wasn't a particularly imaginative hotel, but it is part of... more

Stayed for 5 days here and overall had a nice time. The room was very large and comfortable, bathroom clean and new. Was in teh older part of the building, so some road noise even with the windows closed. Breakfast was excellent (apart from very watery scrambled eggs). Lots of fresh fruit and pastries on the buffet. The only problem... more
