I stayed at the Briar Rose for one night, and would say that on the whole it was good, but had some problems. My mum had reserved a twin room for the two of us months ago, and when we arrived to check in at 6.15pm we were told that the room had been refurbished and was now a double,... more

After reading the experiences of others on this site I was a little dubious, but since I was only staying here for a research trip and was planning on being out of the room for most of it, I thought I'd give it a go. Well, I must say I was extremely satisfied. The staff were pleasant and helpful and... more

I had already booked our room before reading Tripadvisor reviews and was tempted to cancel. However as we were only staying one night we thankfully went ahead with our stay. The check-in was cheerful and helpful. We arrived at about midday and were allowed to leave our bag in a locked cupboard while we went shopping. The room was an... more

This hotel has become a company-wide joke when our HQ books in here. It is truly awful and I would stay away unless you really have to stay in the cheapest place in Birmingham. The hotel is accessed via a door next to the Weatherspoons and is very seedy. The rooms are not very clean and the whole experience is... more

Me and my family had stayed here for one night a year ago, so decided to return due to the fact that it was so close to the town centre. On arrival, which was 1.15pm we were told that we couldn't check in yet as our room was still being cleaned. All i can say is, that I'd love to... more

We stayed for 1 night on Saturday 25th October 2008. Firstly the positives, we spent £50 for the night. It is smack bang in the centre of Birmingham less than 5 minutes walk from Birmingham New Street - you can't fault the location. Now the negatives: we arrived to find that the lift was broken which shouldn't have been a... more

We arrived at the hotel to check in. Were given a key and went in the seemingly old and scary lift. We unlocked the door to the room, to find it had not been cleaned from the previous guest. Also the words "hostel" and "bedsit" sprang to mind. My husband and I just looked at each other in shock. We... more

We stayed at the Briar rose last week as we were going to the Carling Academy to see a gig.The location is ideal as it is a short walk from both the train station and the academy. The rooms are basic ,the bedding was clean but the room was tatty and the bathroom grimy. The "view" was gruesome filthy brick... more

We stayed here for 3 nights the price was extreamly reasonable as on the wetherspoon website they have a coupon for stay 3 nights for the price of two.The total was £110 The rooms were very basic but great value as you were smack bang in the centre of the city. We went to a concert at the NIA which... more
