Stayed here for one night while visiting the University. Good location. Easy walking distance to most Departments and to the train station. Unfortunately, that is about the only good point. The room was shabby, dated and coming apart at the seams. The street-light directly outside my window gave the place and eery orange glow all night even with the curtains... More

I booked the accommodation for 3 nights whilst on a course at the uni, as it is close and has parking. The accommodation is basic, no frills student accommodation, which is fine if you go prepared for basics, not luxury. Walls are very thin - no privacy and you will hear all oblutions from guests in the next room. Buffet... More

I just needed a simple room for one night after attending a concert at the magnificent Birmingham Symphony Hall. I looked for low cost, last minute rooms in the city centre but found nothing suitable so took a well priced offer from the Birmingham University Conference Centre instead (£50 all inclusive). Located only a couple of miles outside the city... More

I stayed there for one night for a conference. Lucas House offers basic accomodation - a true "no frills" experience. Located in a very quiet area and providing free parking and Wifi it is a convenient place if you're looking for proximity to Birmingham University. The premises look and feel rather dated, but the room was clean. Wouldn't want to... More

As the other reviews already state these are very basic accommodations that are reasonably clean (don't look too closely in the corners) near the university, which is located outside of Birmingham (not in walking distance). Attending business/events at the university is the main (only?) reason to stay there. My room was in Hornton Grange across the road from Lucas house... More

Overpriced for what is basically a student room. Reception staff friendly but breakfast was poorly done - food not ready on time and staff served themselves before the customers! Authentic UK service experience but... More

I was in Birmingham for surgery, and had already tried the Plough and Harrow and the Strathallan. Both were disappointing. The Conference Park was convenient to the hospital so my sister could stay nearby. Staff were overall very accommodating, buffet breakfasts were generous. We had a quiet room overlooking the grounds. Free coffee and tea available near the restaurant were... More

Having been to many, many conferences, I thought the standards at the Venue were probably the best of an often very bad bunch. I stayed in the modern Lucas House, where staff were extremely helpful and friendly, the room was perfectly bright, clean and acceptable and above all quiet as it is well away from any student carousing (there were... I stayed at Lucas House whilst on a course. Good points - reasonably sized room & bathroom, comfy bed, location. Bad points - shabby furniture in what appears to be ex student halls - this gave the room a bit of a depressing feel. No sound proofing whatsoever - luckily there was not much activity on the Terrace Bar during... More

I stayed at Lucas House whist at a conference. The place was easy to find & I had no trouble parking. All the staff I encountered were pleasant and helpful and the hotel was clean. The public areas are more modern than the bedrooms but none the less they have all the things you would find in any hotel –... More
