Having used this place, I'd be very reluctant to return. It is vastly overpriced for what you get, and it's basically an ordinary pub with a few bedrooms tacked on. Where it excels is in the open rudeness of the staff and locals, who are openly hostile to 'strangers' and make it clear they don't want them there. Many of... more

As with other reviewers found the landlady, cold, scruffy(flip flops and cardigan with holes in!!) and unwelcoming. Our room was shabby, holes in the sheets, stained carpet, the ensuite shower-room was dated and again tired lacking in any basics for example somewhere to place a wash bag or hang a robe. We had an evening meal, which was adequate but... more

I agree wholeheartedly with the other reviewers about the landlady - a very unwelcoming attitude that is quite unexpected in someone running a country pub! You feel like she doesn't want you to be there (fine - just don't expect people to hurry back). If you're staying the night and arrive in the afternoon before 6pm you won't be able... more

This lovely little pub should have been an amazing place to stay for the weekend, but unfortunately I have never felt so uncomfortable in all my life. DO NOT STAY HERE! The bar staff are incredibly rude (particularly the barmaid who took an instant dislike to us and could not wait for us to leave), the managers clearly hate their... more

Myself and my wife decided to try this place for my birthday and from the outset the landlady was rude and very offish and gave the clear impression that we where not very welcome,We where more than willing to pay for the vastly overpriced menu to get a good meal to celebrate but after a very bad pint of guinness... more

We stayed at this B & B for 2 nights for a family wedding. The room was clean but basic. There was an en-suite shower room, but nowhere to put toilet bag etc etc. The atmosphere in the bar was very good and lively. The bar staff were very friendly and comical. The locals were very friendly too. The food... more

We stayed at this b&b for 2 nights for a family wedding. The hotel was pretty much booked up with other people fom the wedding party. We found the room's abit grotty and the owner so rude it was embarrasing. We felt we were intruding and she didn't want us there. It was a real shame as the surroundings are... more

My wife and I stayed at this Country Pub for two nights in August 2008, and can well recommend it. We paid £70 for a double room on Thursday and £80 on Friday night. NOTE! As is common for other hotels in the area if there is an event on at Goodwood Race Track prices are much higher. This is... more
