If you want an in town hotel this is the one for you. We chose this hotel for it's situation, close to all amienties and as car parking in Chichester is not always easy to find, the Ships car park was an assett. Parts of the hotel has recently been modernised and the effect was very pleasing, sort of boutique... more

We arrived at The Ship Hotel on the Saturday 17th November for a one night stay. I must admit we were slightly dubious having just read a report on Trip Advisor about poor service etc., but the welcome we received by the Receptionist on duty could not have been friendlier. She explained to us that there was a large group... more

We stayed at The Ship for one night with my parents and prospective in laws. We were checking out the hotel for possible accommodation for our wedding next year. I had previously been shown a selection of their rooms which were in no way representative of the ones we were allocated on arrival. The ones we were given were much... more

My wife and I went here for the one night and booked in advance along with a reservation for dinner. On arrival we were given directions to our room which was not only not ready but was frankly a mess. The sheets had not been changed, the bin was over-flowing and the towels on the floor. Fortunately we wanted to... more

I stayed for one night in a single room (no. 18) over a weekend. The general impression of the hotel was tired and faded - scuff marks on the wall, peeling wallpaper, and worn furnishings. The room had presumably been a smoking room before, and still had a strong stale tobacco smell. The window was locked shut (presumably from a... more

We had a Lovely King room at this hotel. Nicely decorated and in a quiet part of the building. However, the bed was actually two singles pushed together and they weren't level and we rolled together a couple of times during the night (and nobody wants that). Also the shower was so weak that you had to hold it above... more

Stayed 1 night here and had a very nice time. Very comfy bed, fabulous view of the cathedral, breakfast faultless. A few minor gripes - the car park is small, the bathroom was in need of a serious refurb, and when we got to the room they hadn't finished cleaning it. However, the pluses outweighed the minuses. Prices can soar... more

As a single woman travelling on business I found the Ship Hotel a very comfortable and friendly establishment. The refurbished rooms are of a high standard, the staff are welcoming and go out of their way to help. The menu in the restaurant was tempting and and the food lived up to expectations. more

I have been to The Ship a few times now, normally for our work's Christmas party and it was a bit tired and nothing special to say the least. This year however I got a very welcome surprise! The food was excellent, specialising in locally sourced food and even some organic stuff! On further investigation I found out that it... more

I booked a weekend away as a treat for my girlfriend as she went to Chichester Uni 16 years ago. The hotel itself was very nice, perhaps just needs touching up a bit in places. The only problem was the service. Upon booking in the receptionist didnt ask if we would be booking dinner that evening (this has never happened... more
