We spent a couple of days here, so we could go to the theatre at Chichester and it was just lovely. A small room, beautifully presented, with an excellent bathroom and powerful shower. My Husband has walking problems and they couldn't have been kinder or more helpful, even though they were very busy. We had two excellent meals, both very... More

This is one of many meals I have eaten at the Royal Oak, I have been here with friends, family, business colleagues and sometimes even on my own - every time has been a good time. I was a little surprised to see some reviews suggesting that things had slipped as I can honestly say that I have never had... More

The location of the Royal Oak is chocolate box-pretty, quintessentially English. The bar is cosy with beams and a fireplace but also has a lighter conservatory area for the restaurant, making the balance between light and dark just right, the only shame was that more local ales weren’t available…otherwise it would have been perfect. The staff are very friendly &... More

I must agree with a previous comment ‘The Standards have dropped’. Our table was booked for 7.15pm, we were greeted and the waitress took our orders so we waited near the bar with a pre-dinner drink. About 8.00 we were shown to our table, the starter of olives and bread was brought to the table along with our main courses?... More

We spent 2 nights at this lovely inn. The staff were pleasant and helpful and the food excellent. We had room 5 which had a 6` bed, was of a good size with a spacious bathroom, plenty of hot water and nice toiletries. The complimentary water and chocolate awaiting us in the small fridge were most welcome! As this room... More

We really enjoyed our one night stay at the Royal oak, the accommodation was fine, and aspects of the food were excellent, but......its not quite the 5* experience the marketing material would have you believe. To deliver the excellence to which the inn aspires, a number of things have to be fixed: - The partridge on the partidge risotto was... More

I was a first time dinner to the Royal Oak and had an enjoyable evening, while the oak is in a beautiful location I would be unsure if it was worth its one rosette. The service we recived was fine but nothing to special, we made a few requests and these were not possible for example could we have some... More

Stayed at the Royal Oak in East Lavant with family on a four night mid week break. We took the two barn rooms at the rear of the pub. These rooms seem to be built into the side of a field behind the pub. The view from the window is unusually just above ground level but that's not to say... More

I returned for dinner to the Royal Oak last week after a 12 month gap and was appalled at how standards had dropped. The service was inattentive - pre dinner drinks were brought to the table, but we weren't asked what wine we wanted with the meal and had to summon a waiter, then we weren't asked if we required...
