Untouched by time. Gas lights. Coal fires. Excellent beer. If you are drinking beer in Bradford you have to visit this establishment. Check out the artwork in the back room. And the fox in the games room.

Really looking forward to visiting this pub during a recent crawl round Bradford. One of the few remaining gas lit pubs in the UK and in the CAMRA inventory. Whilst the building itself was very impressive and the period features fantastic, it felt very much like the place had lost it's way. My partner and I were the only customers... More

Quirky place with an eclectic clientele. Good selection of beers and lots of atmosphere when the pub got busy – gas-lit bar! - and there was music on downstairs when we were there. Staff friendly and helpful.

We found the staff to be friendly and amiable. Tidy rooms. The pub is great with a fine selection of ales and regular live music events. Some rough look types seem to be around, which felt a little intimidating but not actual problems. Would stay again for no thrills budget lodging.

They don't pretend to be upmarket and you get what you pay for. Room was basic but clean, staff were friendly, and helpful. Breakfast was good, and bar was good with friendly customers. Would definitely go back if I were in the area.

We booked three rooms which were clean and tidy, although a little old fashioned. Some of the other "residents" appeared to be homeless people who were being accommodated on a longer term basis. Security might be an issue as the fire door was often left open and anyone could enter from the street and go through to the upstairs room.... More

I booked the New Beehive rather than the Premier Inn or Grand Victoria (both about the same price) as I love real ales and usually would be quite happy with pub standard accommodation. However, first room we were shown stank of stale cigarette smoke, a filthy window with half a broken office blind in the window, cobwebs, an ancient bed... More

The reviewer was clearly aware that we addressed her issues and tried to ensure that she and her partner were happy. We changed her room and in the morning let her know that we would be happy to compensate her financially for her discomfort. This she declined. We accept her complaint s but she does not accurately describe the situation.Firstly she booked through... The New Beehive for me is a bit of an enigma, I have never stayed in the accommodation however I have frequented the bar on a few occasions. I can only describe the bar as quirky, a trip back in time & what I imagine a Victorian gin palace to be like. The ales have always been spot on every... More

Cons: shower, bed, breakfast, security, the advertised wifi does not work in the rooms. Pros: Quiet, nice bar, cheap. The shower was appalling. The water did not drain, so you would showering in several inches of water. The culprit was what looked like several months collection of hair in the drain. It was disgusting. The bed was broken so tipped... More

If you stumbled upon this place without realising what it is then you might be disappointed. It is a working Edwardian pub so you don't get all mod cons and it looks superficially down at heel- but that is its whole charm. Good beer, friendly staff, unique experience. (trip advisor would only allow me to post if I filled in... More
