Sells itself as 5*, try 2.5! We needed 4, yes, 4 tries at finding a room that was even vaguely acceptable, worn furnishings, shower not working, patently used by smoker and not adequately cleaned. After deciding to go away at last minute on Friday night we booked Oulton Hll for one night at £180 for DBB. Our room was ready upon arrival but we were most disappointed. Grounds and location beautiful. Actual building beautiful, but shame about the service, hotel room. Indoor pool was not of 5* standard, more 3* and would rate the room the same too. All pre-conference visits to this hotel went smoothly - excellent food, amazing suites, brilliant service. The actual event, however, was a bit of a let-down. Much of the feedback from attendees was negative with regards to the food & drink. A real let-down from a 5* venue (with a 5* price tag). more

Service and prices as you would expect from a 5 star hotel in the UK. Nothing to moan about, but nothing to write home about either. For those looking for a gym, the onsite facility is above average, fully kitted with Technogym equipment, including Treds, Bikes, Cross and Steppers, all with inbuilt tv. We stayed at the hotel for one night with a wedding party. When we were shown to our room we found the porter to be very helpful and extremely informative about the hotel and its facilities. The room was ‘cosy’ and was clean, we had good quality toiletries although not generous amounts of them, but no dressing gowns or slippers.... more

Things started bad on our arrival, we where advised our spa treatment had been cancelled due to staff phoning in sick, the treatments where re-arranged straight after breakfast the following morning, our room wasn’t ready so we had to wait about an hour. The room was clean but dated although the bed was quite comfortable. Spa facilities definitely need upgrading.... more
