On arrival we were greeted by a very friendly and helpful gentleman who checked us in and showed us to our very spacious room. We were shown all the amenities including ensuite bathroom, TV and more complimentary teas and soaps etc than I have had in very expensive London hotels. There is a lovely pub which is less than 5... more

After reading a couple of adverse reviews I was a little worried when booking even though other reviews favoured this hotel. I am so glad that I ignored them. The hotel is a cottage and guess what?, it is decorated in the traditional cottage style. No surprise there then ! The hotel was clean, the room was comfortable and the... more

We regularly travel from Yorkshire to Cardiff and treat ourselves to an overnight stay when ever we can. This cottage hotel is one of the best we've stayed at so far. We were made most welcome even though we arrived late and the owner was busy serving other guests. The set diner was superb with many choices. The standard of... more

Poor first impression on arrival. Overpowering scented plug-in already when walking through the hall up to the room. Unplugged scented plug in room (always think people are using them when they cannot bother to clean; sorry). Very small bed, hardly a double for 2 adults. Very low shower pressure. Net curtains needed a good wash. Generally extremely dated deco. Wallpaper... more

Arrived and indifferent attitude waiting for us; not 'warm welcome' at all as advertised in webpage. First room for 1 night: absolutely tiny and cramped, old fashioned. Windows with spiderwebs on both sides. 2nd room for 2 nights: Bathroom: Shower with hardly any pressure (ridiculous), suite looked as if 30 yrs old, wallpaper peeling off walls, toilet pipes covered with... more

Just back form a short touring holiday. Had a great stay at the Holdfast. Nice pub next door (far enouth to walk too). Good off road parking, and out of site down a private drive, ideal for classic and vintage car owners as a touring base. We will bring our 1935 car next time! Great for the Thee Counties Show... more

We had to be in the area to deal with our property at Ledbury, so chose the Holdfast Cottage Hotel on its location. We were pleasantly surprised to find an enchanting garden full of rabbits playing in the grass and inside the hotel, a comfortable room with everything we needed. Another couple staying told us the food was excellent so... more

Having read previous reviews we didn't know what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised. Holdfast Cottage is situated in a quite and peaceful location. The room was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. It was comfortably furnished in a style that befits a cottage. The bathroom was also spotless. The owner and staff were friendly and efficient. The best part of... more

We were nearly put off by other reviews on this hotel, but we went ahead. We arrived to a friendly greeting, and were showed to a room, that although rather old fashioned in decoration, was very clean and comfortable and a good size. The room was serviced the following morning, even though we were only staying two nights, and there... more

Initially, I was put off by others' reviews but my husband and I couldn't fault this hotel. Our room was impeccably clean (we did miss a shower- but the bathroom was perfectly adequate) the location was ideal for a peaceful retreat and the meals deserve special mention - exquisitely tasteful, stunningly presented, varied and more than adequate. The attentive owner... more
