Myself and the Army Cadets group of 25 13-18 year olds stayed at YHA Bangor for the first time this year. We usually stay at the Hostel in Conwy, but this year it was closed for refurb.

Unfortunately the overall impression of the group however was that YHA should probably have spent the money on Bangor instead.

The staff were however very friendly and did everything they could to improve our stay. It was cheap and chearful, but considering their were what looked like mouse wholes around the edges of rooms, sweet wrappers and filth everywhere, it really wasn't worth it, and we'll be straight back to Conwy next time we go.

Food was also poor, with the usual YHA 'slop' but often cold and bland here too.

Overall we enjoyed our days out but not our time in the tired, dirty, broken hostel.

EDIT: I know believe Bangor is infact set to under-go a small refurbishment itself soon. Good! more
