A friend and I recently spent one night in this hostel after climbing Snowdon. The location is beautiful. The hostel overlooks the lake and has quite large grounds, so you can relax sitting around outside (take insect repellant as the midges were biting). Reception were practical and friendly when we checked in. You can drop off stuff from your car right in front of the hostel, but need to park a little further away, next to the coach house building, which also has dorm and private accommodation in it (didn't see inside this building, so can't comment).
We were in a large airy 10 share dorm with strong wooden beds. The mattresses were fairly firm, but not excessively. If I had a wish list, I'd say it would be nice to have a wall mounted bedside light for the bunks, since it was either the overhead light on for all, or off for all.
