We needed to visit Colwyn Bay to visit family, and the Grosvenor Hotel seemed ideally situated, being only a few hundred yards from our relatives.
Colwyn Bay was once a thriving North Wales resort but tourism has faded in recent years, there are few hotels left, and fewer things to do once actually at Colwyn Bay.
We found the hotel's website and contacted the proprietors directly, booking a room for a few weeks after our call.
On arrival, our first impression was a steep flight of steps to the front door and a sign saying 'ring bell and wait for response'. We rang the bell and waited; after a minute or so the proprietor dashed to us from over the road, he had forgotten our booking, but no problem, there was space. Indeed there wass only one other booking for that evening.
A room was made up for us on the first floor, about twenty feet square with a large TV above the wardrobe and one corner of the room taken up by the en-suite bathroom. There...
